This book is the basis of workshops that have been successfully used in a number of group settings. The book focuses on the loneliness, anger, and complex family situations that typically accompany having a parent in prison. Because of emotionally arrested development, adults in prison (many of which had a parent themselves in prison) often find they are blessed by this series as much as children both due to their own childhoods and to bring insight as to what their children deal with. Caregivers also find this book useful. Children have been known to read this book over and over as it normalizes their life situation and sets the stage for natural debriefing.
This workbook is very unique and should only be used if staff has been trained and is fully prepared for a litany of subjects to come up that may be uncomfortable. It opens the door to much healing from a shame and anger based identity. It can be a powerhouse especially if the group is being prayed over.
