Welcome to the site of the 58th ALA VOLS /CS Navy mortar battery. We are a civil war reenactment unit based in north Alabama with members mostly from Etowah to Jefferson counties. We portray Confederate artillery and dismounted cav at events throughout the Southeast, and navy when at coastal events, we also do an early 19th century longhunter impression from time to time. We have two usm1840 Coehorn mortars which we use on land as well as onboard ships for our naval impression (CSS Gaines). We are always looking for new recruits, and are happy to help folks put together their uniforms and acquire weapons and equipment.
