Disclaimers, etc. in the first part of the story. A/N: For L, who didn't want to wait another day. As long as you don't threaten me to post another piece today. Don't think I can write that much all in one day. Besides, suspense! Gotta keep you coming back for more. ********************************************************************** Part 5 Sara climbed into the driver side of the Tahoe and fumbled with the keys. She just couldn't get over the kiss she had just shared with Catherine. Well, that was intense! To say the least. I don't know if I can breathe right now. Think about it. Breathe. Breathe. That's a good girl. Keep it going. Oh man am I in some trouble. I wonder if Grissom will notice that I can't seem to function on a level higher than fire bad, tree pretty. Man. I'm so glad that shift is almost over. There's no way I could make it much longer. My lips feel like they're buzzing with electricity. Oh man. And she's just sitting there staring out the window. Wonder what she's thinking. I heard and felt her moan, she had to have enjoyed the kiss as well. Right? Oh god, I hope I didn't just screw everything up. Breathe. Breathe. Catherine was indeed sitting quietly in the passenger seat of the Tahoe staring out the window. She had her own thoughts to deal with. If I look at her right now, I think I might just jump her right here and now. Keep staring out the window. Don't look at her. God, I hope she doesn't think I'm avoiding her. Okay, just a little peek. Oh man. Her face is all flushed and her lips, oh her lips, are a little swollen from being pressed against mine. Look away! Man, who knew she was such a good kisser. I should have done that a long time ago. What was I thinking, waiting this long? Oh yeah, I thought she was straight. Oh, we're getting closer to work. Better get my shit together. I'm going to have to look at her soon. Sara pulled into the lot at CSI and parked in the closest available space. She hopped right out of the Tahoe and rushed over to Catherine's side of the truck. They were at work, so she knew that she wouldn't repeat the kiss. She just hoped her body remembered that. She opened Catherine's door, and extended an arm to help her out of the truck. "You know Sara, it's not like I broke my leg or anything, just a bump on the head. You don't have to help like this." Catherine said, as she took Sara's hand to let Sara know that her offer of help wasn't being totally rejected. "Um. Yeah, I know. It's just that, well, you know, in case you get dizzy and need support." And because I really felt the need to touch again. Again with the bad thoughts, Sara. You're back at work now, remember? Not that you were actually away from work earlier, but at least then no one could see you devour your coworker's lips like it was your last meal. Dammit, there are those thoughts again. Fuck Sara, get it together. "Well thank you. But no funny stuff this time. Too many people here that would tell Grissom." Catherine said with a huge grin on her face, as she started to get out of the Tahoe. Sara's face turned red yet again. But a part of her really wanted to kiss Catherine again. And not just because it was intensely good, but because the danger was like an aphrodisiac. She wondered if Catherine would even want to kiss her again. When both of Catherine's feet were on the ground, she whispered to Sara, "Don't forget about breakfast. But I think I know what's been bothering you now." Sara blushed again. Catherine headed in to talk with Grissom. Sara, reluctantly went back to her interrupted work in the lab. "Catherine what happened out there" Grissom asked. Catherine did notice, that despite his all business tone, she could see some concern in his eyes. She decided to kid with him a little. "Gee Grissom, it's good to see that you're okay too. I mean, I know I'm that one that got cold-cocked by that lousy bastard, but don't worry about me. I'm okay." Catherine said with a small smile on her face. "Catherine, you know I'm concerned, but I know that you've been attended to by the EMT's and I also know that Sara has taken good care of you since then. But since you want me to ask, how are you feeling?" He knows Sara took good care of me? What does he know? How does he know? Oh, wait a minute. He just means she hasn't let anything else happen to me. Phew! "Actually, I'm feeling kind of shitty boss. I just got cold cocked by an ignorant teenager who can't adjust to his parents' lifestyles. My face is swollen and my head is a little woozy. Other than that, I think I'm okay." Catherine said matter-of-factly, ignoring the look she got from Grissom. "Well, can you tell my why he decided to hit you?" Grissom asked. "Only he can tell you specifically why. So find him and ask him," Catherine replied curtly. "Actually things went pretty well until I asked him if he knew where I could find Eliza McCoy. Then he kind of snapped and said something about her being a bitch from hell and a lousy no good dyke. All I did was ask if he knew where I could find her and he flipped out, hit me, and apparently took off. That's it." "Okay. Well fill me in on the conversation before that." "I had gone over to see Jonathan Freese about the death of his mother. As you know, the vic's neighbor had said that Jonathan was having a hard time with the divorce and that some of the arguments had gotten verbal enough to be heard by the neighbor. Apparently his father had called him and told him of his mother's passing. Though he's too young, only 19, I suspect he was drinking. "When I got to the apartment, he told me he already knew why I was there, and that his father called. So, I jumped right in and asked him about the divorce. He told me he was upset about the divorce because his mom had started cheating on his dad, and he could see his dad was hurt. But his mom just didn't seem to care and she went ahead with the divorce and told Jonathan that it was for the best. "Eventually mom got her own place, and custody of the younger twins. Jonathan would visit, but mostly only when the twins were around. He told me that the only way he could control his anger at his mother was if the twins were around. He said they calmed him and he didn't want them to see him angry. Eventually, our vic got a roommate. She told Jonathan that it was to help with the rent. "Here's where it gets interesting. He says he dated the roommate and that the roommate was going to move in with him. When Sara and I spoke with the father, Scott, he told us that the roommate and mom were lovers. I asked him if the roommate's name was Eliza McCoy. He said yes. "That's when we got into it. He was raising his voice little by little and I took that as my cue to leave. Throughout the interview he had actually been crying a little, but now his anger was getting to him. I was heading down the hallway to his door when I turned around and asked him if he knew how to reach Eliza. Then fist, then floor. That's all I know." "Brass has the APB out on him, at least we can put him up for a little while for assaulting a police officer. Maybe that will give us a safe place to interview him. Something is definitely wrong as far as his relationship with this Eliza and his mother." Grissom said, stating the obvious. "Yeah and Brass should still be looking for Eliza as well. She's got a couple of arrests under her belt for domestic battery." Catherine said, getting tired. Shift was now over and the day had worn her out. "Alright, I'm having day shift run the scene at his apartment. Maybe we can get this case wrapped up tomorrow. Thanks, Catherine. Go home and get some rest." Grissom said heading with Catherine out of his office. "Hey Grissom? You think you could convince day shift to take a look at his kitchen knives? He is a good suspect in his mom's murder and the knife we found at her place isn't the murder weapon." "Yeah, I'll have them look into it." "Thanks." Grissom headed towards the exit as Catherine began her search for Sara. After all, she does have a hot date to get to. Fortunately, Catherine didn't have to look hard. Sara was still in the lab processing the final pieces of evidence they gathered at the scene. "Hey, you ready to go?" Catherine asked, breaking Sara out of her concentration on the evidence in front of her. "Yeah. I guess so. Are you sure you want to do this? I mean, you did get knocked out today, you might want to go home and rest." Sara asked, secretly hoping that Catherine still wanted to go out. "I am absolutely sure I still want to do this. Clean up your lab, and I'll meet you outside." Sara's mind raced with memories of the kiss they had shared earlier and thought of just what might be to come. She had her lab cleaned up and all the evidence put away in record time. She nearly ran out the door to the parking lot, but didn't want to seem overly excited about this date, so she settled for a really fast walk out the door. Catherine was leaning against her car, looking as beautiful as ever, even if she had a bruise covering almost the entire left side of her face. "So where we headed?" Sara asked as she approached Catherine. "Well, I was thinking about making you breakfast. Your place or mine?" Catherine replied in a sultry voice, all but winking at Sara. "How about yours? Honest, my place is a mess, and you have Lindsey to take care of, so your place might be easier. Plus, if you do get dizzy, or really tired, you're already at home." "Okay then, convincing argument. Follow me? Can't have office gossip about the two of us leaving together." Catherine smiled and laughed as she got into her car. Oh man. Her place. Not a public place. This is going to be difficult. Just breakfast, that's all it is. Just breakfast. Yeah, right, like you aren't hoping for more than that. Sara thought as walked towards her own vehicle. Yes! She agreed to come home with me! How am I going to behave myself through an entire meal. It may only be breakfast, but she'll be right there. Less than two feet away. And now that I know she such a good kisser, I want to know more. Lots more. Calm down, Catherine. Breakfast first. Then more kisses. Yeah. Oh man, I'm acting like a teenager. Catherine thought as she drove away. ********************************************************************** Next time, Breakfast! Who would've thought so many people would look forward to breakfast. Don't forget to tell me what you think.
