GENERIC MEETING DISCUSSION
--------------------------
Next Two Meetings: Tuesday 11/14/00 7-9 PM
Thursday 11/16/00 7-9 PM
The plan is to work on determining the first and second iteration
of development during the meeting on Tuesday. These iterations
will be based off of the prioritization of user stories by the
customer.
On Thursday, we will write up a release plan for the Spring semester.
Initial discussion indicates there will be two or three releases.
Al Chu will e-mail TA with question regarding estimation of user stories.
- Should user stories be estimated using ideal weeks?
- Or should we adjust estimates and length of iteration to meet
"student weeks"?
Initially we have decided that iterations will be 4 weeks in length. This
is longer than XP's (usually) 1-3 week iterations, the 4 week iterations
are meant to compensate the fact that we are students and not working 40
hour a week jobs.
SOFTWARE SCOPE
--------------
Several small changes to the software scope were suggested and added. They
can be seen at http://www.geocities.com/cs327wgb/software_scope11_12.html.
USER STORIES ISSUES
-------------------
As always, questions and issues about user stories were brought up.
- Several user stories were eliminated, fixed, modified, or combined
into new user stories.
- Several new user stories themselves were thought up.
The entire new set of user stories will be put at
http://www.geocities.com/cs327wgb/user_stories11_12.html.
USER STORIES ESTIMATION
-----------------------
This week we estimated the time it would take to implement individual
stories.
- We discussed each user story and the possible ways it could be implemented.
- Based on our knoweldge of how to implement certain stories, we estimated
the ideal weeks it would take to implement a story.
Drew Roedersheimer (Customer) will prioritize the user stories now. The
list of user stories will be listed from highest to lowest priority on the
web page beginning w/ the 11/12/00 revision of user stories.

Subject: estimates on user stories & iteration length
According to XP, iterations are usually 1-3 weeks in length and user
story estimates should be no more than 1-3 weeks too.
Should we adjust these values because we are students and not developers
w/ 40 hours per week to work? Or should we stick to XP and simply do
"ideal" estimates?
Thanks,
Al Chu

I think those convention can be adjusted to students' situations.
Or you can try to split user stories.
