| Review Two months after the horror at Camp Crystal Lake, Alice, the only survivor of Mrs. Voorhees' tirade of terror, is trying to put her life back together. After a nightmare awakens her and she is scared half to death by a stray cat, Alice decides to make a cup of tea. However, when she opens her refrigerator door, she finds the very horror she is trying to forget-- the severed head of Mrs. Voorhees. She screams, but before she can get away, an unseen prowler grabs her and plunges an icepick into her temple. Five years later, Paul Holt opens a counselor training center at Camp Packanack Lodge, on Crystal Lake, opposite Camp Crystal Lake. As the counselor trainees arrive, Crazy Ralph again spouts his gospel and tries to warn them of the pending danger, but it is again ignored. That night around the campfire, Paul informs them of the legend of Jason Voorhees and how the townspeople believe that Jason is in fact alive and living off wild animals and vegetation in the wilderness. After a prank by one of the trainees, Paul told them to forget the legend, saying that it was in fact a legend and nothing more. As the counselors turned in for the night, a familiar figure shows up at camp. Crazy Ralph, who wasn't satisfied in town, again pedaled out to camp to warn them all. He watches Paul and Ginny in their cabin, and is about to go tell them about it when an unseen killer sneaks up behind him and strangles him to a tree with barbed wire. The next day, the training begins, and afterward, everyone is relaxing at the lake. Sandra, one of the trainees, wants to visit Camp Crystal Lake, especially since it is off limits. She convinces her boyfriend Jeff to go with her and they sneak off to camp. However, a local policeman catches them and takes them back to Paul. The officer, not happy with the whole situation, tells Paul that "things have been quiet for five years and we want to keep it that way." He warns Paul that they are "too close" and then threatens a warrant before leaving. On his way back to town, a dark, mysterious figure runs in front of the officer's car. The officer chases the figure deep into the woods. After a long chase, the officer comes to a clearing in the woods, which reveals an old, pieced-together, beat-up, run-down old cabin. Once inside, the officer can't find anything, but then the figure sneaks up behind him and sticks a hammerclaw in the back of his head. That night, Paul gives everybody one last night on the town before the "real training" is set to begin. All but six go-- Scott, Terry, Vicki, Mark, and Jeff and Sandra, who were forced to stay behind as punishment for running off. With everyone else inside, Terry decides to go skinny-dipping. However, she is not alone out there, as Scott peeps in on her and steals her clothes. When Terry comes out, she chases Scott until he gets caught in a booby-trapped snare and is hung upside down. Scott apologizes to Terry, who forgives him and goes to try to find a knife to cut him down. When she comes back, she finds Scott with his throat slit and then also gets killed. Meanwhile, in town at the local bar, Paul, Ginny, and Ted discuss the legend of Jason Voorhees. Paul and Ted think it's a load of crap, but Ginny is not convinced either way whether or not the legend is true. She points out that if Jason were alive, he would be full-grown by now and that by seeing his mother beheaded, he would have lost the only person who ever loved him. He would no doubt be out for revenge. Back at the lodge, Vickie and the wheelchair-bound Mark agree to shack up together for the night, and Vickie goes to her cabin to prepare. While Vickie is away, Mark goes out to the porch and watches a blinding thunderstorm. Then he gets macheted in the face and rolls backward down a back staircase. The killer then struck Jeff and Sandra next. They since went to the bedroom and were having sex, when the killer snuck up on them and impaled them together with a spear through the bed. Vickie returns, only to find Jeff and Sandra dead. The killer, now revealed as the pillowcase-wearing Jason Voorhees, kills Vickie as well. Paul and Ginny return to the lodge to get some sleep, and leave the others at the bar. After finding the place empty, Paul is attacked in the darkness by Jason. As Ginny moves in to get a closer look, Jason pops up and chases her out into the woods. After chasing her back and forth in and out of the woods and then back in again, Ginny comes to a familiar clearing in the woods, once again revealing Jason's run-down old cabin. There, Ginny discovers the head of Mrs. Voorhees, surrounded by all her dead friends on Jason's altar of terror. With Jason fast approaching, Ginny dons the dirty old sweater of Mrs. Voorhees and prepares herself for the final battle with Jason... |
