Magickal Names

How I Got Mine:

"We have too long forgotten The Magic Powers Of Nature."

My namesake is Crysta, the faery from the movie Fern Gully: The Last Rainforest. She's a spunky, independent, free-spirited faery. However, she's in tune with nature, and she was able to learn to harness the powers of magick for good. I tried looking for a namesake with the traditional Goddesses, but I didn't find much. Oh, I did find a lot of Goddesses, but most of them either had aspects slightly too dark for my tastes, or they simply weren't me. So, one day it hit me to try researching the faeries, divas, and sprites. Then, one day, out of nowhere, I remembered Fern Gully, a movie I'd seen years ago. The heroine Crysta was exactly who I wanted to be my namesake. From there, I added the second word "starr"(creative license with the spelling) as all humans have used the stars for direction, and navigational purposes. Their beauty is also inspirational, and helps us tap into our creative centers. I feel that the name suits me well.

How You Can Find Yours...

As for finding your own magickal name, you can go about it several different ways. You can simply wait for it to come to you through circumstances of Life. Or, perhaps you may find it in a dream or during a meditation. You can research different Gods, Goddesses, spirits, divas, and faeries, and decide which is the most like you, or the most like who you want to be. You may simply choose to describe yourself, or pick a name that represents qualities or energies you strive to embody and understand. Of course, to choose a magickal name, you'll probably need to do some research. You might want to look at a list of magickal names, or Goddess and God information. Whatever name you choose to use during ceremony, whether it is your given name or a "magick" name of your choice, it must be something that fits and feels right to you. Best of luck with finding your magickal name!
