In The Beginning - A Creation Story
All that is , was, and ever will be, comes from love; all seeks to return to love. Love is the greatest Law, the teacher of wisdom, and the great revealer of all the Mysteries.
In love the God, forever changing his form, ever seeks the Goddess. In this world the search and the seeking appear in the wheel of the year.
She is the Great mother who gives birth to him as the Divine
Sun at the winter solstice and, who in his youth, drives the
wolves of Winter away that the world is free of threat. In
spring, He is the sower and the seed which grow, with the
growing of the light of the sun, are as green as the new
shoots. She is the woman learning of life who teaches him of
love and of the Mysteries. He is the young bull as She is the
nymph, the seductress. In summer, when the light is the longest
and He is at his strongest, they meet in a union of ecstatic
sexual bliss, and the strength of their union sustains her, and
through her, the world. But thereafter, the Gods face grows
darker as the sun grows weaker, until at last he must kill to
sustain her, his fields and meat are brought before her, and at
last, he sacrifices himself to give her, and their child,
sustenance and life. She is the reaper, the grave of Earth in
which all must return. And thought he sails beyond the vail, she
follows after, and, in the dark of the winter, Retrieves his
spirit, that it may live on, again, in their unborn son.
Throughout the long nights and dark days he sleeps in her
womb, in dreams. His tomb of Earth becomes the womb of His
rebirth, when he is again borne to Her at the Midwinter. And
the cycle ends and begins again, and the Cycle of the Year
turns on and on and on...
