For four years, she stayed at home with her father and she never left the safety of their house; but that soon changed. One day when Umaya was four, she wandered into the city. At first no one could tell that she was different than themselves. When her father found out that Umaya had wandered into the city, he rushed there to find her.
The women adored the child and the young boys of her age found favor with her. The air around her was filled with laughter and love, to things any adversary of the Saiyajins could not, would not believe they could possess. No one at that time knew what kind of pain and suffering the young child would be forced with, and that they were the causes of her suffering.
Her father soon found her with a crowd around her. He thought that surely, his daughter had been found out. He pushed through the crowd to find his young daughter showing off her powers that he didn’t even know she had.
One woman said to him, ”I never knew that you had a living daughter. I thought that your only child died four years ago with your wife from that deadly disease. I thought that no one survived it. How did she survive?”
“I do not know how Umaya survived. She just did. My wife died right after giving birth to her. Umaya is my only child. There was no other that died of the disease. I have hidden her from society for fear of them rejecting her. I guess I was wrong to do so.”
“I don’t know how you did it! The girl is amazing! You have hidden her from us all yet you taught her to use her ki. I didn’t know that you could teach someone so well!”
Umaya’s father said under his breath, “Neither did I.” He then turned to Umaya and told her, “It’s time to go home now. It’s dinner time.”
This excited Umaya because she loved her father’s cooking. He could make the best roast. It had meat of a deer, his special sauce (which was the deer’s blood with several different spices added to it and cooked over a fire for a long time), and several different fruits and vegetables all in the special sauce cooked all night the night before they were to have this wonderful feast. Umaya was also excited because now she could return home. When she had wandered into the city, she didn’t know where she was going or how to get back. She was relieved when she saw her father and was happy when he could now see what she had been working on for so long.
So Umaya ran over to her father, but as she did her tail showed from under her long shirt and the crowd gasped at the sight of her tail. They all whispered amongst themselves about, “What happened to her tail?” and “No wonder we have never seen this girl before. She isn’t even a true Saiyajin.” The girl did not understand why they were saying such things so she started crying. Her father picked her up and the two of them flew home.
After they had eaten as much of the dinner as they could with plenty left over, Umaya was still upset about what had happened in the city.
“Why did the others not like me when they saw my tail? Aren’t I a true Saiyajin, Daddy? Why don’t they like me? Why, Daddy, why?” Umaya didn’t understand the world yet and she began to cry again when she thought of the people’s remarks.
As her father tried to calm her down, he could feel a very strong energy from his daughter. He had never felt any kind of energy from anyone before and he was very surprised and afraid. When Umaya asked, “What’s wrong Daddy?” he simply replied, “Nothing. Nothing at all, Umaya. Now let me tell you something. The others aren’t used to anyone very different from themselves. Don’t worry any about it. You are a true Saiyajin and you aren’t as different from them as they think.” Her father didn’t know how extensive her differences truly were.
Umaya asked her father if he would train her so she could become stronger. He told her that she was a bit young to start training for a girl but that he would.
Not too long after, Umaya’s training began. Her father knew that he needed to train her well so that if what he thought might happen happened, she would be able to defend herself and survive.
