At the end of the Bayside Bazaar, you can make your way past the alleys and storefronts until you find a store with a little bit less bravado, a shack which is large in comparison but relatively plain-looking; a thatched hut with a set of large, propped-open double doors in the front. As you near closer to the building, you can see a neatly crafted sign hanging above the door.
Upon entering the very neat and well-kept building, you can instantly see a single desk sitting in the center of a massive room, all around it sitting bookcase beside bookcase, most of which are empty. A few of the bookcases near to the center desk are sparsely filled with books of every kind. There are books on herbs and healing, books of music and poetry, novels and stories, spellbooks and wizard's tomes, instructional books and tutorial books, and even a few prayerbooks for those looking to learn to speak with their gods.
The librarian greets you with a smile and respectful nod, rising from his chair to come and meet with you.
"Good day, I wish to greet you into the Silver Seaport's first and only library, the place where you can come to get away from it all and lose yourself in the magic of a book for a few short moments, or a few short hours. I'm the bookkeeper here, and if there's anything I can help you with, please feel free to ask. Browsing among the books is encouraged, but please don't remove any books from the library, as the few we have need to remain here for others to look through if they need it."
With that, he bows his head again and backs away towards his desk, a short but sturdy cluttered thing with many books littering it as well as parchments and scrolls. The bookcases all around are well over ten feet tall, and though the library has the capacity to hold easily a thousand or more books, it looks as if a hundred or less are neatly organized upon their shelves, each bookcase with a different purpose marked on its side.
The Silver Seaport Library is a place filled with knowledge and almost always a quiet place for those less inclined to drinking and fighting to get away from the harsh realities of regular island life. It's a place where Mages have free access to books teaching more and more spells, a place where Healers can learn their trade more thoroughly, a place where those without a profession learn to take one. It's the closest thing to a safe haven the Isle has (which doesn't mean one is -untouchable- while inside, but there is less chance of confrontation while inside, vs. the bustle of Pleasuredome), and at the very least, a place where you're allowed to sit and think without anybody bothering you.
Won't you come inside and sit a spell with us? Donations are also gratefully accepted; although there is no entrance fee, it is the generosity of the patrons that will ensure the Library's continuing ability to remain open.
