Description:
Wrath of God- Early board clearing.
Restore Balance- This deck plays only a few creatures so when you use this it
should be just as good as a Wrath of God, possibly taking some of your
opponent’s cards in hand with them as well.
Lightning Helix- More early board removal and possibly a finishing card and
also some life gain.
Browbeat- Either 5 damage or 3 cards, either way it should help you.
Faith's Fetters- This can stop almost anything and also help you gain some
life.
Desolation Giant- A way to clear the board and still come out with a creature
Firemane Angel- Recurring creature that is almost impossible to completely get
rid of. Also a nice life gain card that will discourage your opponent from
forcing you to discard.
Shard Phoenix- more recurring creature removal.
Magus of the Disk- Another board clearer that can also help with any pesky
artifacts.
Feldon's Cane- Sometimes you may need to get some cards back into your deck, in
a long game.
The idea behind this deck is to always have some way to get rid of your
opponent’s creatures. This deck may seem like it has too much creature removal.
But is there too much? After playing in my first Type 2 tournament with Time
Spiral I noticed that aggro decks were very popular. Whether or not this will
continue we will have to wait and see. Against any aggro deck this deck should
win 100% of the time. Against control, the sideboard could be tweaked to change
this deck into a recurring land destruction deck with Icefall, Stone Rain, and
Avalanche Riders.
Against Control they will need to come out with some creatures to win with and
you should have plenty of removal for them to attempt to counter. Game 2
sideboard in the land destruction.
Here is a sample sideboard for the deck:
4 Icefall
1 Circle of Protection: Black
2 Circle of Protection: Red
4 Cryoclasm
1 Ivory Mask
3 Return to Dust
That sideboard is based around changing over to Land Destruction against
control. Circle or Protections will help vs. Burn decks. Return to dust will
help against the new recurring Aura's. This sideboard could be tweaked to fit
your local metagame.
For the fun of it I also decided to build a Suspend deck from the cards I have
that I would like to try out. Here is the deck list:
Spells (16):
4 Plunder
4 Rift Bolt
4 Wheel of Fate
4 Ancestral Vision
Creatures (20):
4 Greater Gargadon
4 Deep-Sea Kraken
4 Errant Ephemeron
4 Riftwing Cloudskate
4 Viscerid Deepwalker
Land (24):
12 Island
12 Mountain
Now I know this deck may not appear too competitive but remember, I like fun
decks that may not win. But when they do, people will remember the deck as one
only I could win with. Enjoy!!! Next week I will take a look at the worst card
in Time Spiral and Time Spiral Time Shifted (based upon voting on MOTL) and I
will create a deck with the two cards showing that they may not be as bad as
they appear.
