For the second time in three years, a Cardinal won the Junior High race at St. Francis. Getting the team pumped, the rest of the runners fed off the excitement Bubba made early, to carry them to some great performances. Of the 32 runners who completed the 5000 meter course, 18 earned new P.R.'s! One notable performance was Brenton Pahl who dropped 1 minute, 52 seconds off his previous P.R. 6 Cardinals came away with a medal or a ribbon, as well.
The Varsity boys had their best performance of 2002 so far. 5 of the 7 runners earned new P.R.'s and all 7 got seasonal bests. Brandon Heebink got his first P.R. in almost 2 years, running 17:26 and finishing 6th. Troy Dey dropped 20 seconds, Drew Ditlefsen dropped 5 seconds, Joe Trapp - 3 seconds, Chris Lafean - 24 seconds. Isaac Huss dropped 45 seconds from his previous season best and John Kennedy broke 20:00 for the first time in 2002.
