Three veteran runners managed to get new personal bests: Troy Dey (18:45), Chris Lafean (20:20), and Jake Kreye (21:51). An inspiring surprise was the performance of Elliot "Bubba" Huss in the Junior High race. He finished in 6th place (8:57) after only coming to three practices prior to the meet.
The Varsity boys had slightly more success than in 2001. They finished in 9th place overall, beating St. Cloud Apollo and Andover. Elk River, another conference opponent finished in 7th. The top 5 were: Brandon Heebink, Troy Dey, Joe Trapp, Isaac Huss, and Drew Ditlefsen. Heebink and Dey ran sub-19:00. Heebink ran 17:58 to finish 14th.
