The Coon Rapids cross country team placed 6th out of ten teams at this year's Apollo Invitational, behind 5 teams ranked in the top 10 in Class AA or Class A. They improved two places from 1999 and also beat conference rival Elk River by 89 points.
The top individual finishers were Matt Sullivan in the Junior High race, placing 11th with a time of 9:04 for 1.5 miles. Brian Krohmer finished 15th in the Varsity race with a time of 18:16 and Brandon Heebink was 26th. The third Coon Rapids finisher in the varsity race was Matt Holton with a time of 19:26.
