At the 1999 Section 4AA Championships, Coon Rapids expected to place well. However, 11th out of 16 is not that great. They finished in a tie for 10th with Spring Lake Park/St. Anthony but a tiebreaker gave 10th to SLP/St. Anthony. The Cardinals were also only one point behind 9th place Roseville and 11 points behind 8th place Elk River. Next season will be different. Some of the top teams will be losing their best runners. Coon Rapids is losing only two.
