Despite all the worrying and wondering, Marcy DID show at the luncheon. Of course we had to wait for star after star to be introduced before Marcy. When Walt Wiley (Jack) announced that this actress was in the middle of a story with her friends when he first started AMC...I knew it was Marcy! And, sure enough he said, "Marcy Walker."
Marcy came out to a cheering audience and waved. She wore a black suit (jacket and skirt) and pink blouse underneath. She sat with Vincent Irizarry (David) on her left and Josh Duhamal (Leo) on her right. She chatted alot with the two as well as Greenlee (don't know her real name) and Eliott (don't know his name either) who sat beside Vince and Josh.
Marcy accepted the award for a tie in best storyline. I have to agree considering Liza's is about the only story I watch. She said thank you and seemed to be at a loss as to what else to say so then she added...may the story continue.
During the questions to other stars I kept an eye on her. She was chewing gum. Vince helped her out with her collar. After awhile she searched her purse for a piece of paper to put her gum in. And she must have asked for a glass of water because someone brought one for her. Just as she got the glass, it was her turn to answer some questions. She gave the glass to Vince who took a drink and then she answered the questions.
The first question was something about would she like to see Liza forgive Adam or have Liza back with Adam...something like that. Rather than answer the question herself, she let the audience answer. Of course, I was saying NO! But most said yes and so she said, "There you go." Her second question was what would she like to see Liza do. She answered that she would like to see Liza as a good parent. After a moment, she said she would like to see Liza and Adam as good parents. That's fine with me because we all know how often we see parents together! LOL
Then it was time for autographs and the meeting.
My good friend, Sue and I had to wait in a rather long line to meet Marcy. It was probably shorter than we thought but it seemed to take forever to get there. I could barely see Marcy but if I tipped toed, I could see the top of her head. lol
I took a couple of pictures of Marcy and listened in as best I could to the conversations of the fans just before us. One asked where Marcy's son was and she said he was at a friend's swimming. He didn't want to come to the luncheon. BTW, on the other side of the room, we saw Doug, Marcy's husband, holding up a wall...and holding Marcy's purse (aww, too cute) as he waited. Someone else asked Marcy if she was going to be at Super Soap Weekend. She said no but she was glad for the opportunities she had going there.
Sue has known Marcy for a while via e-mail so I wanted to let them have their private meeting. Once Sue introduced herself, she got a big hug from Marcy. Marcy asked her about her haircut and her son and some other stuff I didn't get. I was busy snapping away trying to get a bunch of pictures for Sue. Then Marcy asked Sue if she was there by herself and she said no, she was with a friend...and pointed to me. Marcy looked my way and said, "Well, come over here!" So I did.
I looked her straight in the eye (hazelish, definitely not blue). Marcy is a beautiful woman and so very sweet. She treats everyone as if she knows them and gives each person plenty of time with her. She looked alot smaller than I thought, both heightwise and weightwise. I guess the camera not only adds on the pounds but the height too. LOL
Anyway, I shook her hand and said, "Hi, my name is Debbie. I've been a fan of yours for a long, long time...since those early AMC days. And...Cruz and Eden, be still my heart." She said she had been thinking about those days, nine years ago, alot lately because she's always hearing Eden's name. Eden is the name of the girl who plays Bianca on AMC. I asked her if she knew if Eden had been named after her character. She said she didn't think so. I told her that it was such an unusual name and she agreed. Then I opened up my Soap Opera History book to have her sign it. When she saw her picture in it, she said, "I love that picture." I agreed, "It's a great picture." So she signed my book. When I looked at it later, I saw that she had signed her name and just underneath where she usually writes "LIZA", she wrote "LIZA & EDEN." Awwww, I thought that was so cool. Then Sue took our picture...twice. I said the second one was for the Marcy fans on Marcy's board.
Then Sue finished up with Marcy. Marcy told me that Sue was her guardian angel. I agreed that if we wanted to know the truth, we could always count on Sue. Then, we hesitantly left. I would have loved to stay there the whole time just watching her but we decided to go off to see MEK instead.
Later, Sue and I found out that Marcy was still in the room where we saw her. So...we went back in. She was the only star there but still had a handful of fans to go. Doug and a bodyguard type person was also there. So we stood watching and waiting for her to get done.
Marcy introduced Doug to Sue and said he was from the same city as Sue. Doug and Sue compared notes...something about colleges. He also said that he has read her posts. We were both quite shocked at that and figured if he did read posts, then he must tell Marcy about them. Again, goodbyes were said and it was time to leave.
How lucky was it that we were all headed in the same direction? We had to do down the elevator. Marcy had to go down the elevator. We ended up in the same elevator! We didn't get to talk though because a bunch of other folks came in too. I did hear Marcy say something about how late it was. It was an hour and a half later than she expected it to be and it would take them two hours to get home.
We all got off the elevator. They went one way and we went the other.
All in all, we couldn't have asked for more at this luncheon. I was so worried about meeting Marcy but am proud to have made it through without making a complete fool of myself. Being a fan of Marcy's for so long, this meeting was a dream come true. Marcy is everything everyone says about her. She IS so very nice and down to earth. I got some great pictures and memories to cherish always.
Forgot to mention a couple of things. The drawings. There are hundreds of items that can be won in drawings. We chose which we wanted and purchased the tickets for the drawing. There wasn't a whole lot of Marcy stuff though. There were a couple of autographed pictures but I won one last year. The only thing I really did want as a T&Lover was the newspaper with a picture of Tad and Liza on it regarding ColMar Towers.
I put a few tickets in that one. I also went for a picture box with a picture Marcy and a couple of other AMC actors; a six piece SSW pics, an autographed picture of Vincent Irizarry (for mom). I had one ticket left and I couldn't figure out where to put it. Finally, I decided on a coffee mug with Marcy's picture on it.
Well, guess what I won? Yup, the coffee mug! LOL I don't even drink coffee but I suppose I could use it for hot chocolate. Then again, I think I'll put it away on a nice safe shelf.
I also purchased a bunch of snapshots. Most were taken at last years SSW. There were three of Marcy with MEK...of course, Sue and I had to have all of those! I got one of Marcy by herself, MEK by himself, Marcy and VI, and for some reason they had one of A Martinez, so I had to buy that one too!
