Just cleaned up the site's layout. For some reason, the heading and other stuff were off center in Mozilla Firefox, but it showed up correctly in IE6. Hopefully everything is cleaner now.

Another source of MXP updates (besides this site) has just recently been opened. The MXP Public Forum can be viewed by anyone, not just members of the development team. Braindead and I will try to do bi-monthly updates if possible. Each time it is updated, I will post a notification on this site. There will be updated information on the forum that will not appear here; however, I will continue to update different information on this site as well.

It's been a very long time since I've updated the site; about 9 months actually. However, the project is not dead...in fact, far from it. I've just been too lazy to update the site. Anyway, Braindead recently released a new version of MXP with more bug-fixes a few days ago. Plenty of non-coding work, such as finalizing new/old items and their pictures, as well as new/old monster pictures along with their stats and everything that goes along with it, has been done. I probably won't be posting too many more pictures on the site (can't give everything away now, can I? :-P), but here is a pair of leather leggings that aardless made a while ago. I'm not sure if I really plan on updating the site again any time soon, but check back every so often just incase I do.

I've got a pretty big update for you guys.
Things are going well with the project. Here are some new sample pictures that have been done by Aardless gs and I (mostly aardless gs, I can't take the credit for most of the work that he's done):
Ever wonder why the Gold Pelagon wasnt quite gold? Or why the Hooded Thief wasnt quited hooded? Maybe you'd like to see his partner in life while you're at it. Or maybe you wondered why the Demonist had no signs of a demon in his picture? Here's a new creature, the Bald Eagle. It just wouldn't have looked much balder than the other flying animals if we stuck to the same pic for it, you know what I mean?
Well, here's something that Mordor 1 didn't have, although Mordor 2 did have it...pictures for items! Right now, it looks like every ring will have its own pic, although not all items will have their own pics. So, since any experienced player could easily tell what the ring is before even identifying it, Aardless gs came up with this un-identified ring that will appear in your inventory until you identify the ring, such as this ring of invisibility. How does the new Emerald Ring look? And I bet you're dying to just find out what the hell this dagger is. Well, I'm not going to tell you what it is, you'll have to find out yourself ;-).
Here's some nice sample music that Bubba42 made for the game. He didn't make that song to fit in with the Mordor style music. He just made it as a sample, but I personally think that it sounds pretty Mordor-like to me.
Currently, a version with the first 5 floors completed is out. I'm not sure at the moment what the next version will have in it since there are a bunch of bugs that need to be eliminated. However, I do remember Braindead saying that he's got about 10 floors that he hasn't submitted to the public Mordor 1 boards, and I haven't been so idle myself with maps.
Some descriptions are being made for the creatures and the items, but they are not really the priority right now as we really need a stable version of MXP first.

Lots of new monster pictures have been done (they haven't been added to the site though, although I may add them). Also, pictures for items are being done as well (which didn't exist in Mordor 1). Programming is progressing, so this update is just so you guys don't think that MXP is dead. |

Small update on the links. The Henderson's Mordor 1 Site link changed and Shadowbeast's Unofficial Demise Guide was deactiviated due to inactivity. A couple of new pictures have been added. Click on the DEJENOL picture to get to the page containing MXP pictures. |

Work on MXP is still continuing. Right now, it seems like the main focus is on maps. If you are on the development team and are experience in VB, you can PM peterg70 on Braindead's Mordor 1 Forums for the source code to work with him on it. If anyone is experienced in making music and is interrested in making some for MXP, then please PM me (Crusher Junior) on Braindead's Mordor 1 Forum. Dyster had to push back the release date of Demise 1.02 again till July 17, 2004 since he has to work on it in his spare time. It has also been mentioned that a Demise 1.03 will be released with modding tools, or something of that sort. If you want to have bugs in Demise fixed, just let Archi know on his forums. |

First off, Slimey's Forum is still down. However, his Mordor 1 Guide is still up. For those of you that don't know, Pharaoh Productions went out of business a couple of weeks ago. However, Demise 1.02 will still come out on June 4 according to Dyster and productions on Demise 2.0 will continue. The Demise boards can still be visited here. Decklin has taken down his downloads of the Mordor 1 demo and the Mordor 2 .992 downloads due to having his bandwith used up. However, you can buy a CD that has both of the demos and a Demise demo along with another game demo on it for $4.95 at Decklins' Domain. And last of all, the links have been updated. |

Things aren't looking good at Slimey's Mordor 1 Forum right now. Apparently, someone hacked into his site and deleted all the posts, and Slimey's not sure if he can get the posts back, but he's doing what he can. There's a temporary forum for now at braindead's Temporary Mordor 1 Forum. Expect to see lots of updates here about MXP and/or Slimey's Site for a little while depending on if Slimey's Mordor 1 Forums ever come back up. MXP production will continue no matter what, though. |

If you've been trying to connect to Slimey's Mordor 1 Forum for about the past week, I'm sure you've noticed that you're getting a critical error and can't get in. I've notified Slimey and he said that he'll hopefully have it fixed in a few days as of April 21, 2004. It should be back up soon, so don't start thinking that it's down permanently. |

Some links have been fixed. Seems that the Mordor 2 Tips for Beginners is currently down. I'm not sure if it will ever come back up, I'll keep you updated on that. |

Small, but important update. The old ruby betas have been translated to VB by peterg70. This is a big step because now we have more coders to work using VB 6 rather than using ruby. |

More Pictures! |
Tuesday, December 23, 2003
MXP is currently written in Ruby. Since our 2 coders have not been around for a while, we're debating what language to write it in. Since we will be changing it, we will have more than 2 coders, which increases production time.
Userjjb is writing a storyline. Here is a quick sample:
They thought they had rid themselves of the evil that had menaced their very existence, but a new dark force rose to fill the void. The darkness of the dungeon breeds evil and it was only a matter of time until one who craved all-encompassing power crawled from the ebony depths to snatch it. It would succeed where the others failed, marshalling the disparate factions of unspeakable horrors, together united under its unholy will. Years of rivalry, distrust, and petty grudges had seen the guilds drift apart. Where once there was unity, there was now decay. Taking advantage of the schism forming between the guildmasters, it placed carefully crafted lies and deceit. Like a cancer eating them from the inside out, it slowly encompassed their souls, shrouding them in a malignant humor. Slowly, carefully, painstakingly, it learned of secrets held for eons by the guilds. Now it had all the knowledge it needed to wed these secrets into wicked union. All that was left in its perfect plan was to gather the materials necessary. Soon it would possess power heard of only in legend and seen in nightmares.
For you Mordor 2 players out there, you would know that if something important was accomplished, a message would pop up in the screen. Userjjb has also formed something of this sort. Here is a sample of this:
"You wonder to yourself what could these artifacts be used for. Seemingly impenetrable pictographs glare at you in the darkness as you contemplate the possible significance of your actions." |

The MXP, or the Mordor Xperiment, is a task that a group of members from Slimey's Mordor 1 Forum are working on. We currently have 2 betas. The betas will not be released until we have a 'complete' version. That will then be put up for download for extra beta testing, and then any bugs found can hopefully be fixed. Then we can release our final version. We currently have an (unofficial) item list which consists of hundreds of items, and at least 100 new or changed items. The new game will hopefully be much larger than the original game, probably about 20 floors or so. There will be tougher creatures as well. We also have an item editor and a map editor that go along with the game. The MXP forum is open to approximately 25 people. If you wish to join the group, you must send me a Private Message (PM) to Crusher Junior on Slimey's Mordor 1 Forum (link can be found to the left). You must provide this information:
-What you can contribute to the group (and not just ideas, we already have enough people for that).
-If you have any skill in programming. The game is currently written in VB6. This isn't so crucial since most of the members aren't coders anyway.
-If you are willing to contribute some of your time to work on this. |
