The Sheik, Reggie Lisowski, Rudy Kay and Ski Hi Lee listen to the referee before the bout. But riotous Reg and wildman Sheik would soon be throwing the rulebook out the window.
The Sheik of Araby and Reggie Lisowski make an imposing sight as they await the opening bell. The duo worked well together despite never having performed as a team before. Art Neilson was Reggie's usual tag team partner.
Meanwhile, the Chicago roughneck Rudy Kay and the 6'9" 290-pound giant Sky Hi Lee go over their strategy in dealing with their rule-breaking opponents. The crafty veteran Kay served as team captain this night.
Reggie cranks away on Rudy with a skull-crushing side headlock. The Milwaukee mauler and Arabian assassin were masters of the quick tag and spent a good portion of the first fall punishing Kay while preventing him from tagging to the larger Sky Hi Lee.
The Sheik continued where Reggie left off, working over Kay with a side headlock while choking him whenever opportunity arose. A few punches to the breadbasket were added for good measure. Then came the tag back to Reggie as the referee checks to make sure the hold is legal.
Rudy gets his licks in, too, forcing Lisowski into a corner and pummeling him with stiff punches to the stomach. Rudy turned the tide of the match back in favor of his team with dirty tactics of his own. His punchs packed a whallop and had Lisowski reeling.
The ref tries to get Reggie to release his choke hold on Lee. Lisowski and The Sheik found such tactics more effective against the giant than trying to out-wrestle him.
Reggie grimaces in pain as Lee retaliates
with a bearhug. Each time Lisowski escaped, Lee managed to get the hold back on him. The giant punished Reg for several minutes until Reggie finally gouged Lee's eyes. While the giant was blinded, Reggie was able to tag in The Sheik.
Upon entering the ring, The Sheik of Araby also falls victim to Lee's bearhug. Ski Hi's superior height and reach made it difficult for his foes to escape his grasp. Though Reggie was more of a match to Lee in strength, The Sheik was not, and Lee found great success with such power holds.
In one of the bout's more "peaceful" moments, Rudy Kay grinds away at the Sheik with a punishing armbar. Kay held the Arab madman to the mat for a long while and slowed him down.
The bout comes to a momentary halt after Kay is injured. The Sheik had Irish-whipped him into the turnbuckles with such force that the top rop came down along with Rudy. Caught by surprise, Reggie flew off the ring apron but was unscathed.
Kay was still dazed when the ref restarted the bout, and The Sheik wasted little time in trying to end the fall. He charged Rudy before the roughneck could gather his wits and hammered away at his injured back. Defenseless and already in pain, Kay easily fell prey to The Sheik's backbreaker and was forced to concede the fall.
Winners of the first fall in 23:47, Reggie Lisowski and The Sheik of Araby.
