MOTHER
* Mother, I believe that in the beginning,
when God made a help-mate for man,
He had you in mind.
* And Mother, I believe as man's
relationship to God grew and laws
became the rule of the land,
He had you in mind.
* And Mother, I believe as Ruth
expressed so eloquently to her
mother-in-law,
whither thou goest I will go,
He had you in mind.
* And Mother, as God chose someone
to look after Moses, His chosen
leader to be, He chose a woman,
And had you in mind.
* And Mother, I believe that God has
shown to man throughout
history the importance He
attached to Motherhood,
He had you in mind.
* And Mother, I believe the fact that
God chose to come to man
through the virgin birth of a woman,
He had you in mind.
* And Mother, I believe when our
Savior believed in the woman
at the well, and forgave her sins,
He had you in mind.
* And Mother, I believe when our
Savior demonstrated His love for His
Mother by changing the water into wine,
He had you in mind.
* And Mother, in the beginning of the
early church, when so many times
woman became so vital a part,
He had you in mind.
* And Mother, in the early days of
Southeastern Kentucky, specifically,
the Pleasant Hill Church community,
He had you in mind.
* And Mother, when God chose Dad
to be a preacher and
needed a wife worthy of that calling,
He had you in mind.
* And Mother, when one day in nineteen
hundred thirty three, on a cold February
February day, when I was born,
He had you in mind.
* And Mother, I believe no one else
but you could have been
the one to accompolish all these things,
as God had you in mind.
* And Mother, I love you because
you are my Mother, and because
God always has you in mind.
