| Chapter Five Josh's Point of View I was sitting in Lance's hotel room with Lance and his girlfriend, Sara, when Amanda stormed in angrily. Oh no, not again, I thought to myself. I'm not in the mood for her crap right now. I'm meeting Precious in fifteen minutes and I don't wanna seem preoccupied... "JOOOOOSSSSHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! Who the hell did Justin drag in from the streets?! She's mean and annoying and she bumped into me without apologizing!" Amanda screeched, throwing her scantily dressed self onto me. "Amanda, don't get all worried, I'm sure she's perfectly normal and she didn't mean to bump into you." Lance and Sara just rolled their eyes and sighed. They were used to Amanda's little hissy fits. They had learned to just stay quiet and wait for the worst to pass. Amanda sniffled pitifully, then burrowed her head into my broad shoulder. "Baby, don't get all comfortable, alright? I have to leave in about two minutes." I told her. "Joooosh, where are you going? It's after three in the morning!" "I'm meeting someone- a, uh, friend. I'll see you tomorrow." I said, getting up quickly and making my way to the door. 20 MINUTES LATER I stepped out of the car quickly. I was late. Again. Cursing as my foot slammed against the side of my Jag, I shoved my keys into my pocket and jogged down the hill to meet Precious. As I entered the small forest, I instantly relaxed. This was our special place. We had met here many years ago, and had continued to meet here ever since. The reason for this was because I wanted to have other dating options. For three years, I've been going steady with Precious, but going out with other girls at the same time. I'm just not ready to make a big commitment, so my relationship with Precious has been totally secret. Only Justin knows about it. And the rest of the guys know only about the girls I've been seeing on the side. I told Precious that it would hurt my career if I was seen with her, and she agreed without question. So this is how it's been for the past few years. My secret life. Approaching the clearing, I slowed to a steady walk, glancing around for my girlfriend. "Josh, you're fifteen minutes late again." Precious said softly, appearing suddenly from the shadowy trees. I could tell in the moonlight that her cheeks were streaked with shiny tears. "Precious- why are you crying?" I asked her, worried. "I don't really know how to tell you this." "Just tell me. I'll understand." I said, wondering what the problem was. She took a deep breath, then exhaled slowly, and turned to face me, a sad shadow replacing her normally gleaming eyes. "Josh, I'm pregnant." |
