Quatre Raberba Winner
Quatre Winner is the pilot of the Gundam Sandrock. He is the most merciful of all the Gundam pilots, and throughout the show he is constantly asking his enemies to surrender. If they don't, he then apologizes for killing them. Even though he is seemingly gentle, underneath he is a raving lunatic! ( well, maybe not...but he does go insane a couple of times during the series :) Also, he seems to have some sort of weird psychological link with all of the Gundam pilots, not to mention his Gundam Sandrock. This weird link shows itself when Heero self destructs. I think it is called Space Heart.
Quatre is also the weakest of all the pilots, and he does not possess some of the amazing piloting skills that the other pilots have.

Brief background: Quatre grew up in a very rich family. He is the youngest, and only boy, in a family consisting of him and 29 sisters. He never had a mother around in the family, and he rarely got to see his father while growing up. When he was old enough, his father told him that he was born in a test tube just like his sisters were. Quatre got very angry, and he claimed that his father did not really love him as a son. He believed that he had only been brought into the world so that there would be an heir to the Winner family estate. Quatre then became very rebellious and, with the belief that he needed to protect his kingdom, he ran away. Being a pacifist, his father was very angry at Quatre for wanting to fight, but he knew that he could not contain his son forever. So instead he sent along a group of Kinsmen (or "Fez Heads" as I call them) to protect Quatre. While away from home, Quatre met an engineer, the creator of the Gundam Sandrock, and...well...that's a brief overview of how he became a Gundam Pilot.
