With Mary-Kate and Ashley
Here's the transcript from the question & answer session with Mary-Kate and Ashley, exactly how the Twins said everything, including every "Um . . . " and "Uh. . ." (I videotaped the whole thing, so it's about as exact as it can get!). I've taken out some of the conversation that Mary-Kate and Ashley weren't involved in (if I'd left it in, it would've been waaaaaay too long) and I'm using the obvious abreviations of "M" for Mary-Kate and "A" for Ashley. The "E" stands for Eddie, who was the guy hosting the whole thing. And, questions are represented by "Q". Here it goes:
MK: (To Eddie) How long is this going to be? 5 minutes? 10? 15? 20?
E: Okay, first question . . .
Q: What is the best thing about being a star and what is the worst thing?
A: Ummm. . . the best thing is that we get to travel a lot.
M: And, the worst is . . . I don't know.
Her question was, what's the best thing about being a star and what's the worst thing. What was your first answer?
A:The best thing was that we get to . . . umm . . . we get to travel a lot.
E: And what's the worst thing?
A: Getting sick?
Q: What would you like to be when you grow up?
M: I'd like to be an animal trainer.
A: I'm not really sure what I'd like to be.
Q: Do you ever fight?
M: Oh, yeah!
A: Yeah.
Q: On Full House, who's your favorite person to work with?
A: Everyone's actually nice . . .
M & A: Everybody.
Q: How do they make you cry?
M: Well, sometimes you have to . . . well, sometimes the grown ups have to just think of something and they have to pretend they're crying. And sometimes they just put this stuff on your eyes and it makes you cry.
E: And, how do you do it? Do you think or something, or . . . ?
M: Well . . . we do both.
Q: Do you like being twins?
A: Sometimes.
Q: Are you going to put any of your TV movies on video?
M: Ummm . . . you mean Full House?
Q: No, like Double, Double, Toil and Trouble . . .
M: Um, I think it's only on TV.
Q: Will you be filming any more movies in Vancouver?
A: Yeah.
M: Maybe, yeah.
Q: Have you ever wondered what it'd be like not to be an actor?
A: Yeah.
Q: This year, is the Comet on Full House a different dog?
M: Well, um, see the other dog, Comet, the real Comet, and his real name is Comet, um, he had to go to a different show [a note from Leslie: Comet was in the movie Fluke] and they had to bleach him a different color.
A: Die him.
M: Die him a different color, and I think what happened is, they can hardly get the stain out, so they're using another dog. It's true. [another note from Leslie: The new dog's name was Bob.]
Q: What do you do in your spare time?
A: Umm . . .
M: Um, I . . .
A: I dance, at a ballet studio, and Mary-Kate horseback rides.
Q: (To MK) And, what do you do.
M: Horseback ride. At the L.A. Children's Riding Center.
Q: How much vacation time do you get off of Full House?
M: Well, um, Monday, Saturday, and Sunday. Sometimes Tuesday.
Q: Which do you like more, making movies or being on Full House?
A: I like both.
M: (At the same time as Ashley) Both.
E: What would you say is harder work?
A: Um . . . I don't know. They're not actually hard.
E: They're both hard?
A: No, they're not hard.
M: If you know your lines and stuff like that.
E: And you guys are good at that?
M: If you practise a lot.
Q: What was your favorite movie to film?
M: I think I like How The West Was Fun.
Q: What are your favorite colors?
M: Well, my favorite color is forest green, I guess. It used to be red, but now it's green.
A: And, mine's blue.
E: Does everyone know which one is Mary-Kate and which one is Ashley? And how do you know the difference?
(Lizzie walks up)
E: Alright, Lizzie, I want you to tell us how you know the difference.
Lizzie: Ashley has a dot and Mary-Kate doesn't.
E: What dot?
Lizzie: The dot right here. (she points to her lip)
(Mary-Kate points to the dot above Ashley's lip)

Q: Are you guys going to do a feature film that will be shown in the theaters? [That was my question!] A: Nope. M: I don't know. Manager: The answer is yes. It'll be filmed next April. M: Us??? M: (shakes her head)Nuh-uh. Manager: If they want to. M: IF we want to. IF we want to. Q: Does this ever get on your nerves? Do you wish people would just leave you alone? A: Sometimes. M: Sometimes. Q: Do have a chance to play on your own, and what do you do? A: Ummmm . . . M: Ummmm . . . A: We just play. M: Listen to music. E:What's your favorite music? M: I don't know . . . I like Janet. Ace of Base. Q: How old are you? A: 8. M: 8. Q: Do you guys ever play tricks on anybody? M & A: No. Q: Does it bother you when people look and stare at you? M: Sometimes. A: Sometimes. E: Okay, let's give them a nice, warm round of applause. That's it. As you can see, at that point in time, Mary-Kate and Ashley really didn't have much say in what they do and they didn't seem to like all the attention they get. You should have seen how fast Mary-Kate got off that stage!
