Dragging Alec
into it
Chapter Four:
Original Cindy
walked into Jam Pony just in time to see Alec casually slip his hand into Max’s
back pocket. She shook her head and went to her locker.
Sketchy joined
her momentarily.
"Did I
miss something?" he asked her.
"Probably. You talking about something specific that
involves a point or are you just rambling on about your life in general?"
she raised her eyebrow.
Sketchy
narrowed his eyes, "Very funny. I’m talking about how Alec just had his
hand on Max’s ass and it is still part of his arm."
"Now
THAT, I can’t tell you about, but I can tell you this…"
Original Cindy
sets the scene.
"It was
an early morning a few weeks ago. Original Cindy had spent the night chillin’ with a fine sister from Crash, but I needed
to get fresh for my day." Sketchy nodded for her to continue. "So who
do I see leaving that morning? None other than
Sketchy shook
his head, confused. "But that doesn’t necessarily mean
anything…"
"Honey,
you’re the one that complained you missed something, now you have me wondering
why you ever catch anything." She pursed her lips in annoyance.
"Well, if
Max didn’t tell you they were together, then there has to be something else
going on."
"Did I
say I finished my story. Hush. As I was saying, Alec
was just leaving, but he wasn’t alone. Max was there with him to say goodbye.
Now, unless things have changed a whole lot with Max since I met her,
she doesn’t say goodbye like that to just anyone."
"Man, what
about…
"Well, my
home girl says they are over. And I know she wouldn’t move on to Alec unless
they were." Cindy spoke with more certainty than she felt.
"Well, it
looks like they are about to go out on a run, I better congratulate my
man…"
Sketchy
trotted off toward Alec.
"Hey
Alec, wait up." He called out. Alec turned around ahead of him.
"Hey
Sketch. What can I do for you?"
Sketchy looked
from Alec to Max and back. "I just wanted to say…’Way to go’…" he
said and then leaned over and whispered conspiratorially, "Talk at Crash
later?"
Max heard all
of this, of course, and rolled her eyes. "We gotta
bounce."
"Alec has
his own bike, Max, he can catch up." Sketchy was clearly hungry for more
details than Cindy could tell him.
"Actually,
I busted mine today." Alec put in.
"How’d
you manage that one?" Sketchy asked, genuinely curious.
I was drove
it into the guy that’s trying to hunt us all down. Alec thought to
himself.
"He was
showing off." Max rolled her eyes as if to say "Oh, my idiot
boyfriend, always trying to impress me."
"I saved
your life, Max," Alec felt forced to add. "Admit it."
"Well,
fine, Alec, the guy was coming toward me, but you didn’t have to crash into him
YOURSELF, I would have swerved."
"YOU
DIDN’T EVEN SEE HIM!" It had come to this. They were having a legitimate
argument about an event that never happened.
"Well, I
would have!"
Sketchy held
up his hands. "You know, guys, I’ll see you at Crash…" he said
quickly before escaping the scene.
Max and Alec
grinned as they exited the building.
As they
approached the motorcycle, Alec glanced from it to Max hopefully, then shook his head to himself. Max caught part of his
glance and looked at him questioningly.
"What?"
she asked, frowning. Then a light dawned in her eyes
and they widened. "Oh, HELL no, you can’t drive it!"
Alec sighed,
"Max, why would I want to concentrate on the road. Really.
Why?" he shook his head at her silliness.
Max got on the
Ninja, and Alec slid behind her.
She fired up
the engine and he slipped his hands around her waist.
"Could
you keep your hands in one place this time, Alec?"
Alec laughed
softly. "Oh, Max, you know you don’t mean that."
She hit the
gas…but didn’t answer.
Naturally,
Alec decided that since she hadn’t argued with his statement, she must agree
with it. There was really no other logical conclusion to be drawn. So, first
things first, he let his hand stroke her hair, moving it to the side as he
carefully administered kisses to her neck.
She felt goose
bumps pop up on her neck as Alec kissed her. Unconsciously, she leaned back
into him, turning her head to allow him better access. She felt him smile
against her neck and she sighed as he ran his hands slowly down to her thighs
as he continued to kiss the nape of her neck and even licked her right behind
the ear.
Suddenly, Max
slammed on her brakes and Alec grabbed onto her.
"Check
point." She commented unnecessarily, breathing hard.
"Yeah, I
noticed." Just then, he noticed where his hands had grabbed for dear life.
"Sweetie,
could you stop groping me in front of strangers…?" she hissed softly. He
wouldn’t have been able to hear it if not for his enhanced abilities.
Reluctantly,
he removed his hand from the pleasant location it had landed and back down to
her stomach.
"Jam Pony Messengers." She told the guard as
they both fumbled for their passes.
He waved them
through and Alec started to get more comfortable…again.
"Alec."
Max said tightly, "We can do this later."
Alec snorted,
"Max, all we have to do right now is drive…but if I’m turning you on too
much, I understand." He grinned and kissed her neck.
"Here we
are!" she practically yelled, relieved as she pulled up by an apartment
house.
Alec sighed
and got off the bike. "Ok, where to?"
"Third floor." She took off in a hurry and Alec chuckled to
himself as he followed her.
"What?"
she asked, ringing the buzzer.
"Nothing,
you just get all ruffled when you’re turned on…it explains so much." He
said suggestively, running his eyes down her body with a mischievous have
smile.
"And
that’s funny…" her eyes narrowed. She launched herself at him, flinging
them both up against the wall and letting her hands explore him the way his had
explored her. Alec met her half way, feeling as much of her as he could as his
tongue mated madly with hers.
Vaguely, he
heard a buzzer go off and she was suddenly gone.
Bereft, he had
to hang onto the wall for balance.
"Come on,
Alec." She frowned at him as he tried to catch his breath, "You’re
slow when you’re turned on." She winked at him and started to trot up the
steps.
He grinned and
followed her.
Max knocked on
the door and was grinning to herself at the stunned
look that was still a part of his beautiful features.
"If you
don’t want your back against that wall, Max, my dear, you’ll stop
laughing." Somehow, this didn’t seem as threatening as it did exciting.
She grinned at him.
"Really,
will I?" she looked into his eyes, which glittered dangerously.
The door
opened.
Both of their
heads snapped forward.
"You have
a package for me…?" The speaker was a good looking young man in his early twentys…sporting a very unfortunate choice in
shirts. It was a rare person who could wear a green turtleneck with any kind of
dignity.
"Yeah, we
need a signature," Max commented holding out the package and the clipboard
and noticing the massive computer system behind him and catching Alec’s eye.
The young man
hesitated before signing, frowning as he finished the signature, glancing
toward the name on the package as he did so. The action wasn’t lost on Max or
Alec.
Alec laughed.
"You could at least memorize the name you make up. We don’t care what you
want to call yourself."
The young man
blanched, backing away from Alec, making an unconscious gesture to cover the
back of his neck. Max’s eyes narrowed and she pushed their customer backwards
into the room. Alec followed her, neatly closing the door behind them.
"You guys
really don’t want to do…whatever you think you’re doing."
"That’s
some nice hardware you have there." Alec commented. "Exceptionally
nice for this part of town."
"I work
out of my home. Oh, and speaking of my home…get the hell out
of it."
Alec grinned,
"I see Manticore taught you some great people
skills."
The young
man’s eyes narrowed, "Well, if you know that, then you know I can kick
your ass…so I suggest you leave through the door before I have to throw you out
the window."
Alec liked him
already, but he just had to laugh at the assumption that this kid was that good
that he would beat BOTH of them.
"Something funny, 494?"
Alec stopped
laughing.
