Max slid her hand down her
lover’s body. He was perfect, so
beautiful and pure. Kissing his head
softly, she ran her fingers through his dark blonde hair, wishing he didn't have
to sleep so much. But he DID need his
energy, she thought with a smile.
There was scuffling in the
next room, but she ignored it, kissing the barcode that tempted her lips and
drawing her hand down the firmly muscled back that had become so familiar to
her.
It felt right, she was
home, even though she left
Leaving
She snuggled closer to the
man that did, one of the few that truly could.
Whispering his name
softly, she watched his long eyelashes flicker.
His hazel eyes glowed
green as they met hers and he smiled in that beautiful, childlike way he had.
“Morning, Maxie,” his lips
met hers softly and she sighed into them, succumbing to the magnetic pull of
their union. It felt perfect, to fall
back into who she was and stop pretending.
He didn’t want her to be normal, he didn’t want her to be anything other
than who she was…Max, X5-452. And she
wanted the same for him.
Pulling away from the
kiss, he leaned on his elbow and looked down at her, running his fingers
through her hair and smiling into her eyes.
Relaxed and happy, she smiled back.
“I love you,” he
whispered, not for the first time.
“I love you too,” she
replied, pulling his head back down to her, showing him with her body what
she’d already said with her lips.
They had taken care of
each other always, but it was only recently that she had realized how deeply
they were connected, how natural it was to just let go of her fears and take
hold of her destiny.
Worshipping her body as he
did her soul, he reached into her to the darkness that brought them
together. She loved his gentleness and
his passion, the way he knew what do to and took her with him.
There was a moan in the
next room and the couple stilled their passion, sighing as they were brought
back to reality.
“Later,” he whispered to
her, though Max knew there might not be a later.
They slipped from the bed
and dressed each other, perhaps for the last time.
The X5s stepped into the
next room holding hands and found things just as they had left them, with two
men chained to wall, sweat running over the barcodes at their necks.
Unlocking their prisoners,
Max handed them both weapons. “These are
for your protection,” she told them, “If you want to live, you’ll use them.”
The men stumbled toward
the door as the command to “Run” echoed behind them.
It was time again. Ben kissed her one last time and smiled.
