THE TERROR UNFOLDS |

On September 11th, 2001, four planes hijacked by terrorists, crashed in New York, Washington, and Pennsylvania.
At 8.45 am, American Airlines Flight 11 from Boston, carrying 81 passengers and 11 crew, hit the north tower of the World Trade Center, leaving a hole in the building and setting it on fire. |

At 9.03 am, 18 minutes after the north tower was hit by the first plane, a second plane was seen heading towards the building. This was United Airlines Flight 175 from Boston to Los Angeles, with 56 passengers and 9 crew on board.
New Yorkers looked on in disbelief as it became apparent that the first crash was much more than a horrific accident. |

With smoke billowing out of the building from the earlier impact, the second plane crashed into the south tower.
Immediately after impact, a fireball erupted out of the other side of the building. The events were broadcast live around the world. |

At 10.05 am, in NYC, the 110 storey south tower of the WTC collapsed. Daytime New York turned dark as smoke, dust, and debris choked the city. |

At 10.10 am, in Washington, one side of the Pentagon collapses.
More than 125 service men and women died as the crash caused a section of the building to collapse. |

At 10.10 am a fourth hijacked plane, United Airlines flight 93, carrying 38 passengers and 7 crew, crashed south of Pittsburg. A brave fight back by the doomed passengers meant the terrorists never reached their Capitol Hill target. |
