experts agree that the best thing you can do to give your child the background
he needs to be successful in reading, is to READ TO HIM.
In addition to our language and reading activities, we find time every
day just to get comfortable and enjoy a book together. Depending
on the book we may read the entire thing or a chapter or two. Sometimes
we read more than one book during this special reading time!
Just being able to listen to the story enables the children to concentrate
on the characters,plot and vocabulary in the story instead of having to
decode the words for themselves. Even after your child is reading on his
own, it is important to continue to read aloud with him. Comprehension
levels are usually higher than actual reading levels. By reading books
aloud that might be a little above your child's reading level, you are
increasing their vocabulary and comprehension levels. KEEP READING!
