Ah, Botan...long time no see. What do I mean? Since Sunday night, March 31st, I have been without computer access. Which means that the EWA's debut show, Loaded, was not posted, and that I have been without the Smark community's negativity for the past five days. Of course it also means that I have actually ENJOYED watching wrestling, well RAW at least, and have had a good time not even thinking about stupid ol' e-wrestling. Plus I purchased a new 17" monitor today, and I think that is pretty swank.
A lot has happened since my last Thought. I am the UIL Computer Applications District Champion, and sometime soon look to become the Regional Champion as well. I am also a 6-time former PCP (Pimp Championship Pool) Champion, though Jack currently holds the "Golden Eight Ball" which is our prestigious title. Speaking of Jack, his doomed-from-the-beginning e-federation the PCW has failed miserably and I believe is closed, but I guess it doesn't matter- he was just going to use it to put himself over!
Well, let's start with the EWA. Paul claims it is a fresh new start, but to me, it is just a trimmed down version of HCW with some new names thrown in there. To be honest, I sat down last Sunday almost dreading having to write the results, and was almost relieved to find that my monitor would not let me! I'm taking a leave of absence until the end of school I believe, at which point I'll see if it is still afloat and make the decision to stay or leave. But to tell you the truth, e-wrestling is just becoming too damn boring for me.
What I used to view as a challenging game has become a formulaic, political, stressful job. I've unlocked the secret to e-wrestling success, and I might actually join a a few "jobber feds" just to prove it. It's the same old thing, and if you are like Justin DiGesu, X, Jeremy Diaz or the countless others who have figured out the trick as well- it is just one big ego stroking! I've always known that there is a certain way to do things to ensure success, but I have tried to be different, I have tried to stray away from the "easy way." And while I have done some awesome and very exciting things I believe, most notibally my reign as Undisputed World Heavyweight Champion, I've also received a lot of undeserved j-o-bs and short ends of angles simply because I refuse to become caught up in the political game. I don't know. Maybe I'll do a column on e-wrestling's secrets or something like that. Either way, I do believe that there is more to life, and I do believe that where e-wrestling is concerned, I'm Out.
So that's four columns upcoming: The Farewell Address, The Secrets of E-Wrestling, The Modus Operandi Chronicles, and The InVasion Angle Done Right. Look for those by the end of the year...or possibly the end of the night if I become inspired.
Let's move on to wrestling itself. We are one week into the heavily anticipated Roster Split, or Brand Extension if you are a pretentious like the WWF, and I must say that based off preliminary assessment...I'm a RAW man. Now I of course realize that it is very hard to make a final decision as to which brand I prefer know, especially since without actually dividing the booking team I feel they will burn out very quickly, but just after viewing RAW and SmackDown! I know which brand I liked better this week at least.
SmackDown! was the same old-same old or however it
goes. A 20 minute promo to kick off the show, a series of boring
and generally pointless viginettes, about five brief, barely average TV
matches, and annoying commentary. The highlights of the show:
-Chrisitan defeating DDP
-Kidman winning the Cruiserweight Title a 6th time
-Edge's viginette with Angle
-The Rock vs. Chris Jericho
Other than those things, not much else was too cool.
HHH seems to really want to be a heel, which is a good thing, and Hogan
is a mix between his Hulk and Hollywood personas, but I don't buy that
Taker is out of the Backlash main event just yet. Besides, I'd rather
see Taker vs. HHH right now anyway. They should save Hogan vs. HHH
for a show I'll actually buy.
RAW on the other hand was like a completely new federation.
It was like something I'd book. I admit that Ric Flair got the short
end of the stick with the actually Draft, but he did manage to nab three
singles titles and most of the wrestler he did sign were guys who haven't
seen much TV time in a while. Highlights of RAW were:
-RVD vs. Booker T
-Eddy Guerrero's return
-Bubba Ray vs. Raven
-Spike's upset over Regal
-Undipsuted World Title presentation
-Kane pushed as a top face
-Vince being thrown out
-Bradshaw/nWo viginette building to sometime
-Austin's contract signing
Honestly, aside from the two viginettes featuring
Vince outside, which didn't make sense if Flair didn't want McMahon on
his show, RAW was absolutely awesome. It felt like a WRESTLING program
for once. The set, music, and everything was great, and I like the
new title belt. It was a great show, and this week, I give the nod
to RAW. I don't hold out much hope for the entire Split honestly,
but this week RAW was excellent, and I hope they can keep it up.
Of course I'm sure all the Smarks hated both shows, and blah, blah, blah. This week I did not have the option to view their garbage, and for the most part I enjoyed both shows. I admit SmackDown! was a serious let down after RAW, but I don't even want to know what the bumbling idiots on the Internet thought about it. The WWF did good this week, and no matter what bitter ol' Keith or any of his cronies say, nothing can change that.
As I mentioned before, I believe Jack's PCW is dead, and I am most probably finished with e-wrestling altogether. However, Jack and I have begun a new wrestling venture, as we will be competing against each other in fantasy booking. What I mean is that I have created my own federation, and Jack has created his own. We held a draft over the phone, each taking 20 real wrestlers, and on Saturday nights we will each post a show on a special website. Jack's bias uncle will grade each show, telling us which was better overall and which wrestlers are over with him. Like I said...he is bias, so we are keeping the knowledge of whose federation is which under wraps. If he does figure it out though, I'll lose big time, but it should be fun regardless.
Well, I guess that is it for this edition. I'm going to go try to find a picture of the new WWF Undisputed World Title belt, just because it looks cool, and update my website a little bit. Not much else is going on I suppose so...
I'm Out
