The Poems of
Terri Lyn Stanfield
Can You Feel It?

What makes a great piece of writing?
Is it the rhythm of the words?
The way one flows into another?
Is it the cadence of a poem?
The way one line matches one previous?
Is it the passion that is felt by the author?
Or the inflection we give the work as we read it?
Is it the way we get caught up in the storyline?
And the ability to escape into it,
At least for the time it takes to read the work.
It's all of these things.
And the ability to open ourselves up to a whole new
world.
To feel the words come to life.
And to become, in the world of fantasy,
The person we dare not be in reality.
But only when we can feel in the reading of it,
What the author felt in the writing of it,
Is it truly a magical experience.

Come Back To Me

In the middle of the lonely night
I think of you
And I wonder if you think of me
I think you do
When I close my eyes you're in my arms
Held oh so tight
And I savor all the memories
And hold them close
For memories are all that I have
Our time has passed
Yet my heart refuses to agree
It is still yours
Does yours still belong to me? Does it?
How can it not?
We were far too close to truly part
Our souls were one
And they still are. Can't you feel it, too?
Return to me
Until you do, we are incomplete
We are two halves
Only when together are we whole
I need you so
I am empty without you, my love
Come fill me up
With your love, you laughter; with yourself
Come back to me
