| The Joke's On You Why did you do this Are you satisfied You had it all planned You were very sly You arranged it all The time and the place Did you want to see The pain on my face When I arrived here I saw you at once Kissing another I felt like a dunce And as you kissed her Your eyes locked with mine Yours full of gloating And mine opened wide If what you wanted Was to say goodbye You could have told me But you didn't try And in a strange way I suppose I'm glad How can I mourn for Someone who's a cad You've made it easy For me to move on And after tonight I'm glad you'll be gone How could I have been Infatuated With such a jerk, when I've always hated Users and takers But you managed to Somehow ensnare me And I fell for you Or maybe I tripped Cause if I fell hard It would hurt much more And would leave me scarred And all that I feel To my surprise Is gratitude That you opened my eyes The joke is on you Now I'm leaving here My heart still in tact M emotions clear And for the first time Since you came along I'm feeling grounded My heart filled with song I feel a freedom And a confidence Belief in myself I haven't had since You entered my life My subconscience knew From the beginning I didn't love you You were just something I needed to do As a life lesson Good riddance to you Copyright 4/15/2001 Terri Lyn Stanfield All Rights Reserved |
