Dave Stewart joined "Cops" in Concert as a guitarist and soon joined Scott in the studio where they worked
together over the years on a variety of projects, including their first album entitled "First Offense." The
album and two earlier singles under the "Cops" in Concert name, proved to be a
valuable learning experience, as they recorded over 40 songs together.
Dave proved to be a valuable asset in the studio, as he
had studied studio recording in college, and had an extensive musical background. Dave started on the
drums at age five, and by age ten had started playing the guitar, followed by the piano, bass, and even bagpipes.
In high school he played with the jazz band and at the time of graduation received the Louis Armstrong Jazz
Award for 1983. He went on to study music at California State University, San Bernardino, studying
performance, theory, composition, jazz, and classical guitar. It was during his college years that Dave befriended the
bass player with the "Cops" group, and subsequently joined the act.
Dave also proved to be a talented song writer, as he
wrote three of the songs on the "First Offense" album, and half the songs on the latest "Cops" album entitled
"Knockin' on Heaven's Door."
