HOTSPOTS WEST:
      WAYNE
         MICHIGAN
WAYNE:  Wayne, is a larger city about 10 miles West of Detroit city limits. It is well populated, with many houses, and businesses, such as Ford's Wayne assembly plant! Wayne is also the home of a major interlocker: Wayne Jct. While the tower may be gone, it is still busy enough to be a Hotspot!! About 75 feet west of Wayne Jct., Is Conrail (NS) Wayne Yard, with two daily locals, the WDWA-20, and the WDWA-44. CSX also has a yard here, mainly filled with autoracks, CSX's "Wayne Terminal", located about 100' North of Wayne Junction. Both lines, The NS Michigan Line (chart here) and the CSX Saginaw Sub, are both single track lines, with the NS starting a 10 mile double track stretch West from CP- Wayne Jct. to CP-Ypsi in Ypsilanti, and the CSX ending double track about 2 miles South at Romulus, MI., and runs single to Flint, MI. For CSX and NS, this area can be a bottleneck but because traffic on the NS is light, Amtrak is heaviest, there is usually never a problem.
