NS   pictures.

Remember that NS is:
"The Imbred of transportation"
I really dislike NS, but they now reign over what was once CONRAIL in the Down river area, and when they took over, they really took the fun out of railroading. Dull paint scheme (with a Jack-ass painted on the hoods!) and backwards running, and a rather Nasty practice of making employees use bags to crap in while on the road...This is modern railroading!??
Here you go, NS fans a nice Jack-ass diesel, long hood forward shot, just the way you like it. It is Conrail 1686 in NS paint. This engine,   is assigned to the Detroit Conrail Shared Assets area. The way NS runs things, this engine will be all torn up within a few years.

Update: 2/3/02 It is true, most GP15-1s, as well as the entire Conrail fleet have become junk like the rest of NS
NS 49e (STEL) is passing south through the CONRAIL river rouge drawbridge. The leading engine is an NS GP50. Supposed to be run long-hood forward, the crews wouldn't stand for it so they wyed it at CP-WEST DETROIT. But they still have to deal with an outdated feature, a high short hood. I feel sorry for this crew, because they have to take the train all the way to Elkhart. I do hope that if they have to go to the bathroom, they'll go to the Conrail engine, otherwise, they'd have to break out the bags. DISGUSING! How inhumane can a rail company be. NS truly tests the limits of their employees.
Another NS pic, this one of an SD70, at FN tower, Trenton MI.
Thoguh outside of Michigan, I had to add this one to fill up the page.

This NS train had a lousy radio (like most NS engines) and I couldn't tell what his symbol was because of that. At any rate, this one was taken at Millbury Ohio, in Early Spring, 2000.
