Complex regional pain syndrome (crps) is a perplexing condition that can occur following injury, usually to an extremity.People with this syndrome experience intense burning pain along with autonomic and tissue changes in the region of the injury. This group of symptoms has also been referred to as reflex sympathetic dystrophy or in the case of a known nerve injury, causalgia. Most people who have this condition will find that it has taken years to be diagnosed, this is mainly due to the lack of knowledge or belief in CRPS / RSD within both the public and professional domains.

My name is David and I have Full Body RSD and Fibromyalgia. It took eight years for me to be diagnosed with these conditions, and I am one of the lucky ones.
I have lived with these conditions for ten years despite being seen by many Professionals who were top of their field . Many times I have considered taking my own life due to the pain and depression. Pain that is constant and doesn't respond to medication.
It is common to have little or no sleep at all for days on end until my body finally shuts down and allows me an hour straight through. I also get hypersensitivity which means even the touch of clothing or material actually hurts. It hurts just to touch anything. I have deteriorated so much over the last ten years that I am now virtually wheelchair bound.
So as you can imagine, this brings great strain to your life and those around you, because people do not understand this condition and the fact that the symptoms are not always present and do not show up in any medical tests (except causalgia which can be seen in an MRI scan) many people including professionals think you are a liar and a malingerer, this serves only to cause further depression and almost a belief in yourself that you are imagining the pain, you are not it is very real.
As you can see CRPS / RSD is a disabling disease which brings much misery to your life, I am thankful that I was diagnosed as since then I have found a support group who are always there for you in the good times and especially the bad. I can honestly say if I hadn't found them I don't think I would be here today.
