A Prayer by Dennis Prien
Our Father in Heaven.  As we come together today to remember our Dad, Charles Andrew Prien.  We are very thankful for having Dad in our lives.  Dad touched all of us indifferent ways.  He always had a joke or a story to tell.  Dad taught me a lot that has helped me to get through life in a positive way.  Dad was very proud to be a Mormon and served you well on earth. Now he will serve you in heaven.  We pray that you will give Mom strength and courage in the days to come.  Mom and Dad had a very special life.  They were each other's strength and guidance.  Dad will always be in our hearts and prayers.  He will surely be missed.  And if you need another fisherman, Dad's a good one.  I ask these things in the name of Jesus Christ.     Amen.
Poem By Laurie Burge
Looking back as time marches on
My heart goes back to a man
So young and strong, a man who always
Belonged to Christ
He did what was right
He was a hero, a shining knight
With such a brave heart
He battled until the end of his life

One of the things I will miss about Grandpa are the great war stories I've heard over the years.  He was a great story teller.  In my encounters with veterans who served in various wars, most seemed guarded, leery and somewhat ashamed to talk about heir experiences in war.  But Grandpa spoke with such security and pride for serving his country during war time and he used humor, his humor.  He was like having our own Bob Hope, our own USO.  I will miss his jokes.

In closing, I think Grandpa would have been proud to have left this country and world on Inauguration day, January 20th, 2001, Charles Andrew Prien's Inauguration into the great heaven above.  God rest his soul.  In the name of Jesus Christ.
