| The Origins of The Crow |
||||||||||||
| The Crow originated from the mind of James O'Barr and became a success underground comic, full of darkness, violence, and love. It all started when O'Barr's wife was taken away by the hands of death. This left O'Barr with a piece of his life that he loved missing and he, like many people need something to vent out their feelings. A devistated O'Barr picked up his tools and created a comic book character that he could easily relate to, The Crow. After the comic gained some attention, The Crow hit the movie screens in 1994, and was highly successful. Despite Brandon Lee's tragic death, the movie was a hit, and it all comes down to one man, and his story. It really is sad to know that one man's loss and pain can be another's entertainment and success. Since the original film hit the screen, it has spawned 2 sequels, with another in discussion, a made-for-tv movie called The Crow:Stairway To Heaven, action figures, comics, and much more. It is easy to say that O'Barr is now living the life that many people want, but, in all reality, it is not. Sure he has money and fame, but all at the expense of a loved one's life. As he commented on an interview that is featured on The Crow:Salvation DVD, O'Barr has gained support across the United States from fans, admirers, and friends. I would just like to say that even though I do not know the man, I respect his work, and admire his will to go on in life after such a lost. The Crow will always live on through James O'Barr. |
