| Robert Hornack lived and breathed wrestling. Robert began his training at the age of fourteen with his friends Dom, Justin, and Ryan. Although very young, Rob was determined to someday wrestle. When their ages were revealed, the four friends had to quit and wait until they were a bit older. In the meantime, Rob's passion for wrestling grew stronger, and his passion was shared by his stepfather Chris Lash. Chris founded the Allied Powers Wrestling Federation in 1998 and Rob's dream was on its way to reality. He watched and learned from the sidelines as he helped organize shows, ran music, and set up the ring. A few months after the birth of the APWF TC Renyolds was hired as the trainer for the brand new training facility. His first student there- Rob Hornack. Rob along side friends Mike Duke, Jeff Brooks, Frank Sweeney, Ken Brewer, Frank Marano, Randy Uplinger, and Dom Catanzarito entered the life he longed for- the life of a pro wrestler. Rob was the most dedicated student ever to pass through the training facility and he dedicated all of his extra time to help others who were struggling with the basics. On Mother's Day 1999 Rob had his first match in Indiana, Pa against The Nugget. He was victorious, and he was in his glory. His dream had come true. Rob won the APWF Pennsylvania Title on July 31st, 1999 in Big Run, Pa after defeating all of the APWF young bloods in a battle royal, and retained the title August 7th in a countout against Blaze. I had the honor of being his valet for that match. On August 13th, just 6 days after defending his title, Robert, Mike, Jaime, and myself left for vacation in Ocean City Maryland. We arrived early morning the 14th and we were eager to hit the beach. Robert passed away a short time later after being hit by a wave and drowning. The pain is still very real and it hurts so very badly. Rob was the reason I got into the business and I will always cherish our special times together. But the one comfort I have in his passing is knowing that he fulfilled his biggest dream, and now Heaven has its very own Champion. I love you Robert! This page is for you little bro, my Champion forever. |
