Principles, applications, and administration of information systems focusing on business telecommunication concepts and terminology. Course content includes decentralized processing, communications links, and communications-oriented hardware and software. The course also provides an introduction to network architecture and related concepts.
In addition to class lectures and demonstrations, students will work through a series of structured "hands on" activities. Here, students will gain a first hand knowledge of communication concepts. Laboratory tools utilized will include standard TCP/IP utilities, protocol analyzers, and network mapping tools.
