| Who we are in The Shire of Crossrode Keep |
| Welcome Lords, Ladies and all kind Gentles to the website for the Shire of Crossrode Keep. Our Shire is located in the City of Big Spring, Texas and the surrounding area. We are a fun, friendly group that is very active in the Kingdom of Ansteorra. Ansteorra is defined as all of the states of Oklahoma and all of Texas in the Central Time Zone (thats everything but El Pecos and Hudspeth Counties). We are one of many groups in the Non -Profit Organization known as the Society for Creative Anachronisms, (SCA, Inc.). The SCA is a group of regular individuals throughout the world that are dedicated to the recreation, education, and research of the pre-17th century European History, (mainly from 600 A.D. to 1600 A.D.) This covers the time-frames commonly called by historans as the Dark Ages; the Middle Ages; and the Renaissance. We the members of the SCA, all individually, try to recreate the various aspects from these timeframes that we research, by letting each member recreate a particular timeframe and culture according to that individuals personnal taste, interests and desires. So at any event in which you may attend you can easily see a 9th century Norseman (Viking) talking with a 13th century Frenchman or maybe you will encounter a 15th Century Spanish lady dancing with a Norman Lord just back from the 1st Crusades. So are you someone that sometimes thinks that you are occassionally living out of your proper century? Have you ever thought what it might be like to have lived long ago? Do you long for the opportunity to go into battle wearing armor, and using a Sword, Shield, and a helm? Or maybe you may like to have the chance to sit around a campfire at night and hear songs, listen to stories, tales and poems from long ago and a bye-gone time? If you have ever done any of these things or would like to do so, then come join us as we recreate the Current Middle Ages. A time of wise and kindly Kings, Bueatiful and Radiant Queens. Where mighty Knights with high honor and endless Chivalry may win the day on a tourney field; or you can even see a skilled Longbowman, as he hits the Gold again and again on a target on the far end of a field. This is just some of the things that we do here in the Shire of Crossrode Keep, and all over the SCA. Please take a moment to read through our other pages we have made available for you. And we also do humbly request that you take a moment to sign our guestbook to show others that you have visited with us and you can even tell us what you think of these pages we have available for you. Again we offer an invitation for you to join us here in the Shire of Crossrode Keep at anytime, or if you do not live near the City of Big Spring, Texas, feel free to ask us for the name of the SCA group nearest to your location and some one from this group will be happy to locate a contact number for you. |
