The Shire of Crossrode Keep

This is our monthly Officer, Finance Committe and General Business (Populace) meeting where we handle all of our administrative stuff. Anyone is allowed to attend these meetings and everyone is invited to attend them. These meetings generally begin at 6 p.m. on the second Tuesday of every month and last about 2 hours. The meetings are held in the Basem-ent confrence room of the Howard County Library, located at the corner of South 6th Street and Main Street, in Big Spring, Texas. If you need additional information for these meetings, or if you have a specific question on these meetings, please feel free to contact the Local Seneschal for assistance and they will be glad to help.
FIGHTER PRACTICES:
Our shire currently does not have a weekly local fighter practice due to a general lack of fighters able to attend. When we are able to hold a fighter practice; they are held on Sunday afternoons from 2 p.m. till 5 or so, at Comanche Trail Park, in the City of Big Spring Texas.
Our fighters and other members meet in the open field just to the east of the baseball field, where we make use of the pavilions. This is just down the hill from the KidsZone playground located near the main entrance to the park and just south from the spring which is near the Hwy 87 entrance. If you have any specific questions on our fighter practices (Armored or Rapier) please contact the Local Seneschal and they will help you with any concerns you may have.
ARCHERY PRACTICE:
We do try to hold our Archery Practices at the same location in the Comanche Trail Park as our Fighter Practice on Saturday afternoons when we can due to weather, and attendance. This activity usually starts at 2 pm and usually ends about 6 pm or so. The archers in the Shire of Crossrode Keep will on occasion do combat archery, but usually they just stick to target archery. If you want more information or have questions on our archery practices please contact the Local Seneschal for assistance.
GUILD & OTHER MEETINGS:
Their is several different guilds here in the Shire of Crossrode Keep and we meet at various times and in the homes of our members or at other designated places throughout the month. For specific information about when a specific guild is meeting, directions, or more information about the current activities of our guilds, please contact either the A&S Minister or the Local Seneschal and they will be glad to assist you.
A list of our current guild activities in the Shire of Crossrode Keep include:
- Textiles Illuminated (Sewing, quilting, weaving and all other actvities you do with fabric)
- Woodworking (Making almost anything from the middles ages out of wood)
- Brewing, and Vinting (The making of ales, beers, meads and wines)
- Archery, Bowers, and Fletching (All aspects of archery and making archery related items)
- Armor and Weapon Repair (Making/ repairing a fighters armor kit for Chivalric and Rapier styles of combat as done in the SCA.)
