The Somacare Sentinel Report of 2003-08-14

Health and sickness do have one thing in common – they both feed on themselves; like so many things in life, growing stronger and more resilient with each little bit of success.

Several folks I know have asked me to write up this condensed report on the benefits of the holistic health research I’ve done over the last three years.  So here it is - about 20 minutes of reading to cover the basics.  Of course, there is much more information for those who want to delve deeper, but this report should suffice for those who just want to really feel young and alive again.  It took a good bit of time and effort to condense and compile this, so please read only when you’ve set aside the required 20 minutes.  Consider printing it out as well.  By the way, ‘Soma’ means ‘body’ in Latin – hence the name of my business.  Not that I ever studied Latin.  Lucky you – How the heck would I find the time to learn and disseminate all this great and useful health knowledge if I were in some musky library studying Latin!?!?!

Aaaanyhow, up until about 6 years ago, I exercised and had a good understanding that despite popular fad diets, the best way for me to eat was, whatever else I did, to have fresh fruit I the morning, include fresh greens / salad at lunch, and minimize fatty, glycemic (pastas, breads, etc.), and poisoned foods in general.  Yet I was still experiencing low energy (and sometimes upset tummy after meals), especially when I deviated from the boring regimen of fruit, veggies, and clean lean protein.  In addition, I was slowly losing energy and stamina as I aged.  Though I knew most others around me were doing the same, I also knew that there were folks who were doing better - not noticeably aging as the years went by:  Somehow their bodies were operating in a way that rejuvenated themselves fully, and they looked as good or better than they did years ago.  Sure, most of these folks lived healthy lifestyles, but there was more to it than that.  So, even though I suspected that somehow the vitality I had enjoyed in my youth was still recoverable, for all my efforts, I was still missing something…there were simply one or more components of good health of which I was yet unaware.  But life went by and I did not know what these ‘components’ were until one fateful day, when I chanced to receive the most amazing 4-hour crash education in the preventing disease and restoring youthful vitality with the last two major pieces of the health puzzle: the crucial roles of the mighty enzymes, and the importance of eating foods that are not only WHOLE, but ALIVE.

Think you have your diet pretty dialed in and take pretty good care of yourself?  So do most folks.  So why pay any heed to a report like this?  Well, if your definition of ‘most’ is “over 50%”, then, guess what?  According to the latest studies, MOST men in the US have some degree of pancreatic cancer when we die.  That’s right - MOST, as in “over half”.  Want more reason to stop and take this seriously?  Another organ which is adversely affected by enzymatic deficiency and eating non-raw foods is the colon, and colon cancer kills more non-smoking men than ANY OTHER TYPE.  In fact, it is now widely believed that over 80% of men in this country suffer from some degree of colon and/or pancreatic cancer by the time they die (the actual number may well be more like 90%) and these afflictions silently and painlessly strip us of our energy and vitality long before they can even be detected by conventional tests, robbing us of the pleasures of life LONG BEFORE they actually cause sickness or death.  Conversely, over the last ten years or so, instead of wasting their efforts on exotic and expensive HGH (human growth hormone) - type remedies, cancer patients across the globe have experienced remission and saved their lives by supplementing their diets with inexpensive digestive enzymes and living Super Blue Green Algae (hereafter SBGA).  Case after case is beginning to show that cancer (colon, pancreatic, lymphatic, you name it) is often reversible merely by eating whole raw foods supplemented with the right enzymes and SBGA.  This is documented - not hearsay.  Have I got your attention yet?  Remember that saying - ‘an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure’ (or something like that - hey I don’t read the classics - strictly non-fiction)?  The point is - Think how much more benefit one can reap through these two simple supplements BEFORE cancer sets in!  But, before we can take advantage of this knowledge, we must understand how enzymes and algae work to restore your organs.  To do that, we need to understand a few things about digestion and nutrition.

Think ya know pretty much what there is to know about nutrition?  Think again.  Sure we need our vitamins and minerals (and essential fatty acids), and sure we need to minimize poisons in our bodies.  But just what defines a nutrient?  A food?  A poison?  Well, for starters, our bodies CAN survive off exactly 43 nutrients (not including air and water).  That’s right - there are exactly 43 ‘building blocks’, which our bodies combine in a myriad of ways to make all the millions of different complex molecules, which sustain our lives, and if we could eat these 43 in their pure (unlocked = completely digested) form, then we would need no other food to survive.  These nutrients are called ‘essential’ because they are required by all humans yet cannot be synthesized by the body and thus must be derived from the diet.  From these 43 come all others, but only if our bodies are digesting properly!  (In fact, the root cause of many diseases is a person’s inability to properly extract essential nutrient from food, which then snowballs into disease as one or more of our very complex biosystems stops functioning because the person’s body is making FAULTY vital-complex nutrients (everything from T-cells to marrow) from it’s incomplete set of essential nutrients.  More on this later.  In any case, the essential nutrients include 15 vitamins, 15 minerals, 8 amino acids, and 5 fatty acids:

That’s it - the recipe for the human body’s nutrition.  Now, vitamins and minerals are fairly small molecules or atoms with which I’ll assume we’re all somewhat familiar.  I’ll not dally on this , but I will mention that, strictly speaking, no matter how well made your vitamin / mineral supplement is, it is ultimately a  strain on the body  (not to mention a waste of money) to get your vitamins in any way but from whole and living foods.  Explaining why is beyond the scope of this report, but suffice to say that even though vitamin pills may be appropriate ‘in a pinch’, truly healthy older folks are getting their vitamins in balanced and correct dosages from whole foods (foods which have had NONE of their natural elements or characteristics changed or removed).

So next we have the amino acids:  These are the "building Blocks" of the body.  We are literally made out of them.  Besides building cells and repairing tissue, they form antibodies to combat invading bacteria & viruses; they are part of the enzyme & hormonal system; they build nucleoproteins (RNA & DNA); they carry oxygen throughout the body and participate heavily in brain and muscle activity.  When protein is broken down by digestion the result is 22 known amino acids: The eight essential ones listed above, and the 14 others called the NON-Essential amino acids (see me for a list).  Now, as with all other non-essential nutrients, the non-essential aminos can be manufactured by the body from the 43 essential nutrients BUT, they ARE also available ‘pre-assembled’ in different foods, so we DO often ingest them directly in our food.  (This is because the plants and animals we eat had to make many of the same complex nutrients as we do - other life forms need and make complex nutrients as well!!)  and when we have the proper enzymes to properly digest those plants and animals, complete with these larger - pre-assembled nutrients, it is a very good thing for us.  Why?  Because our bodies are spared from the chore of having to make them ‘from scratch’!  You see, our systems ‘recognize’ the complex nutrients and say … “wow, here’s some CREB already made!!”  (CREB is one of the many nutrients and  metabolic enzymes required for basic memory function.)  “I’m so glad I already have the required set of enzymes to unlock it from the surrounding food matter so that it’s not ruined or denatured (destroyed - kinked)!!  This will save me a whole lot of work building it from scratch !!  Not to mention, If I DON’T unlock and use this CREB, then I MUST spend even more energy to dissolve it (break it up crudely into non-nutrient pieces just so that it can be eliminated from the body) and in that case I have gained nothing from that expenditure of energy – I have wasted that energy.  So having the ability to assimilate these already – built, complex nutrients saves our bodies much energy that we can then apply to higher level functions (example number 4,706,589 for instance - playing the saxophone instead of  recovering from the workday on the couch).  Laugh a little, my friends ( hey – it’s actually good for you!), but whatever you do – do NOT underestimate this effect – it is quite literally the difference between mediocrity and excellence, between apathy and zeal, between fatigue and virulence, between subsistence and prosperity.  (By the way, just in case, to grossly oversimplify,  the ‘method’ used to manufacture most of these higher level complex nutrients out of the 45 essentials is called ‘translation and transcription’.  Your body is basically reading your DNA instructions to assemble thousands of different small molecules in just the right way.  Anyone interested in learning more on this might want to read Matt Ridley’s Genome – one of the most interesting books I’ve ever read, and one of only two I’ve bothered to read twice.  The other one is a secret, and I just got more confused the second time around)

So, even though our bodies can make the non-essential nutrients (from the essential-nutrient ‘building blocks’),  they are still very beneficial and widely used (especially to construct other more complex non-essential nutrients) and it still saves a lot of energy to be able to assimilate them by proper digestion.  But this state of having plenty of higher -order digestive enzymes ready to go to work on a moment’s notice requires that a wide array of enzymes have been made, and are stored in our organs ready for use as soon as we eat , and is only attainable if we eat nothing but raw food, OR take a VERY good enzymatic supplements in the right dosage at the right time.  And THAT requires knowledge as well as determination.  So, most of us never get to that ‘state’ of efficiency - we’re not bad people, we just don’t spend the time to understand enough about how our bodies function, aren’t used to ‘tuning in’ to and interpreting the (often very subtle) signals our bodies give us, don’t eat enough whole, living food, and consequently, we don’t HAVE the complex enzymes READY at a moments notice.  So when that CREB (or one of the thousands of other huge, complex vital nutrients) happens to be in our food, and hence needs to be unlocked, the complex set of enzymes is not there!  As a result, the body must intentionally destroy the CREB JUST TO GET RID OF IT, breaking it down into useless but transportable bits, which may well end up lining your colon until you get cancer or diverticulitis.  We refer to this phenomenon as ‘indigestion’.

So what is digestion?  People think in terms of ‘burning’ calories… check minus.  Burning is reacting something with oxygen - digestion is about 10 orders of magnitude more complex.  Other people think it’s the  ‘gastric’ acid in your stomach doing the ‘digestion’.  Wrong again McFly - acidic solutions DO break down large molecules of foodstuff, BUT NOT INTO ANY OF THE 45 NUTRIENTS!  When acid attacks food, it breaks it down all right - into tiny little molecular bits, which can then be more easily moved into your intestine and through the body.  But these molecules are not nutrients - they are now waste - literally poisons!  Again, this is ‘indigestion’!  Imagine pulling an old jigsaw puzzle out of the closet.  You open the box, and half the pieces are all clumped together in one big clump from, say, someone spilled Elmer’s glue on them long ago.  Now you hold that clump in your hand and you KNOW if you could just somehow dissolve away JUST the Elmer’s glue, then all  the pieces would separate and fit into their places and the puzzle would be complete.  That’s like proper digestion.  But unfortunately, you don’t HAVE any magic ‘Elmer’s Glue dissolver’ at home, and so you take a pair of scissors and try to cut away each piece from the clump.  Well, of course, you now have a bunch of ‘pieces’, but they are not perfectly cut away, so they don’t fit in their proper places in the puzzle:  The MASS (of all the pieces) is still the same, but the pieces are literally no good at all to you, and the whole puzzle is garbage - INCLUDING the other half of the pieces.  Same with indigestion: all the pieces are now garbage your body must get rid of - that’s a strain on your body and the cause of many illnesses.  In other words, as soon as a FOOD is digested improperly, it ceases to be an asset and becomes a liability.

Food, however, is a ‘source’ of nutrients (how many times have ya heard that phrase?), and therein lies the rub:  eating any food (which is not alive as it goes down - more later) and asking your body to use it directly for nutrition would be like pouring crude oil into your car’s gas tank and hoping it would work the same as gasoline:  Sure, the petroleum is IN the crude oil, but it is simply not ‘unlocked’ yet - the petroleum molecules are still bonded into much larger macro-molecules and as such cannot be used by your car’s engine.    In order for the crude oil to become usable petroleum, it must be must be catalytically ‘cracked’ (Ch. E  lingo - who said my last career wasn’t helping?) -  reacted under the right conditions in the presence of a catalyst so that it can then be made into petroleum.  If the ‘reaction’ doesn’t occur just right, then the crude oil becomes all sorts of things, but NOT petroleum.  The damage is done: these useless reaction products have been created, they cannot be made back into crude oil, and they will  never become gasoline.  All because the reaction did not occur properly:  Wrong Conditions or No catalyst -  NO petroleum.  It’s that simple.  And so it is in our bodies with our food: there are only two fates of food (locked-up nutrients) in your system: Digestion into nutrient, or indigestion into waste matter.  Nutrients FEED our cells, but wastes (being very hard to eliminate), hang around and KILL our cells, taxing our bodies.  So what does it actually take to digest food properly?  The correct set of enzymes for that food!

So where do these ‘correct’ digestive enzymes come from?  Only three places:

1 - Whole Living Foods:  Only food that is alive WHEN YOU EAT IT has all the enzymes needed for it’s proper digestion.  And even then, it only has enough to digest ITSELF - not the crap you eat before or after.  So if you pick an apple off a tree or pull that zucchini out of the ground yourself and eat it right then and there (as was natural for so many eons), your body does near zero work to get those nutrients and you have not sucked the life from your metabolic and endocrine systems just to get a bit of energy from an apple.

2 - Enzyme Supplements:  Only recently have effective plant - based enzyme sets been grown and harvested in their natural state, and this is the first key to the results myself and other nutritionalists have realized.  Eating the right supplements before a meal insures that proper digestion takes place

3 - Your Pancreas:  Let’s face it - you may eat fresh veggies occasionally or even often, but are you really prepared to eat nothing but raw foods for the rest of your life?  Of course not.  So you go to the store and buy an apple, which is (who knows how many) days or weeks old (no longer alive on the tree), your pancreas must MAKE the amylase to digest the apple.  Same with any food that is not literally alive AS YOU EAT IT.  This is what happens 95% of the time, and our pancreases work constantly to make the enzymes missing in ANY dead food.  Unfortunately, we’re not meant to have to make that many enzymes, and our pancreases get overworked, and that’s when trouble starts :

By the way, there are literally thousands of different enzymes at work constantly in your body (more when we attain optimal health) and their interrelationship is, to say the least, beyond the scope of this report.  These enzymes are, however, roughly categorizable into three categories:  Digestive, Purative, and Metabolic.  Digestive enzymes extract nutrient from food.  Purative enzymes are digestive enzymes which also can break down poisons (from saturated fats to CMC to MSG to tar from your cigar to cogeners from your cocktail to other food additives to various viruses and bacteriophages to the pollen, NOx’s, and sulfides in the air you’re breathing right now) into more benign, molecular pieces you body can then eliminate.  ( In case you haven’t noticed, we live in a highly polluted world where micro-pollutants are spread far and wide throughout our air, water, land, and sea.  Our bodies are constantly cleaning house much more so than a hundred years ago, though we have not changed.  Hence we need a LOT more purative enzyme function than our ancestors just to maintain the same levels of health.)  And Metabolic enzymes facilitate (and are absolutely required for) higher functions like the five senses, thought, feelings, coordination, learning, etc.  Though I will occasionally touch on metabolic enzymes to clarify a point, this report is about the nature of digestive and purative enzymes, and helping out we humans who have had to make way too many over the years overtaxing our poor pancreases.  So – back to the pancreas:

Now, long ago, we hominoids were like all other animals and lived by the laws of nature :   Fate and natural selection determined lifespan – if you ate the wrong egg, you died of salmonella, but 999 times out of 1000 - there was no disease, and the egg, being RAW, had ALL THE ENZYMES OF LIFE IN IT AND the egg was fresh and fertilized, so they were still FUNCTIONAL!  SO you either got death or got life from it, quite literally.  There was NO middle of the road for the individual, because it was the species that was most important.  In case you think those days are not long gone, take a look around… when’s the last time we were in danger of going extinct ( from natural causes)??  The moral?  When we act to preserve the INDIVIDUAL, we act against the grain of nature, and some interesting things happen, like pollution or our environment AND our bodies.  Enough philosophy, but that is the way nature  used to work:  we ate to survive.  Stored food was not known.  Your forefathers literally ate that apple right when they plucked it off the tree, that grass as it grew, the raw bloody meat literally right after the kill.  The difference?  THE FOOD WAS ALIVE WHEN IT WENT INTO THEIR BODY!!   So in addition to some of the 45 nutrients, the food had the enzymes (tools) to properly digest itself STILL INTACT.

Now, these tools (enzymes) are not like the tools we think of in the classic sense.  They are, in fact, VERY fragile because they are such large molecules.  Take your average sugar or starch with a total molecular weight of about 100 – 1000. You can heat it in a pot for a while before it starts to burn, because it is simple in structure, not very complicated... not a lot to go wrong. Your average enzyme, on the other hand, has molecular weights in the 10,000 to 100,00 range.  That's ABOUT 10,000 TIMES LARGER THAN THAT TOUGH LITTLE SUGAR  Now, an enzyme works very specifically in 3 dimensions: Chunks of food ‘fit' into it like a cell phone fits into a plastic holster or a key fits into a lock, and then the enzyme literally cleaves the large food molecules into it's component nutrients.  If, however,  the enzyme ‘ holster or lock’ gets melted or banged up and deformed, the phone or key no longer fits, so the holster or lock no longer 'work'.  Same with enzymes: the enzyme's SHAPE is what's important.  But these enzymes often have tens of thousands of very sensitive chemical bonds in them, so they are more easily 'kinked' by heat and ruined by chemical processing… plenty to go wrong.  When enzymes are heated, they 'kink' and unfold or fold up weird... they change shape.  This is called 'denaturing' and a denatured enzyme CAN NO LONGER DO ITS JOB.  So what has it now become?  THAT'S RIGHT-A POISON WHICH IS NOW JUST ONE MORE PIECE OF MATTER YOUR BODY MUST GET RID OF RATHER THAN USE - REMEMBER THERE IS NO MIDDLE OF THE ROAD - ALL MATTER (every atom or molecule)WHICH enters our bodies IS GOING TO BECOME either an asset (nutrient) or a liability (poison).

So when we hominoids learned that we could cook our food, and remove that 0.1% chance that it would kill us from bacterial infection (who can blame us for that?  Hey , survival of the fittest is fine and dandy until it’s ME that’s going to die) all seemed well, but what we didn’t realize was the price we would pay in the long run.  Slowly (almost imperceptibly like watching your puppy grow up and you don’t notice the change so much because you see him every day, but your friend stops by after a month and says “Wow – your puppy has grown!”) but steadily each of us pays a huge price for eating so much cooked food.  But once again, natural selection kicks in: To make up for the missing and denatured enzymes, we humans slowly developed an organ called the pancreas (via natural selection - it is believed that early hominoids had pancreases 1/10th the size of ours), whose job was to step in an emergency and MAKE protease, lipase, amylase, cellulose, lactase, etc, should the human be unable to find living (we now say fresh) food.  Fine again, BUT it was only big and strong enough to make small amounts of those digestive enzymes - just for emergencies.  It had a small 'enzyme potential' and would be OK as long as, say, 95% of our food was alive and had its enzymes with it in good shape.  But these days we cook nearly all our food, denature nearly all it's enzymes, and, guess what, most people have overworked their pancreas (largely spent it’s enzyme-making potential) by the time they are about 25 - 30 years old!  Hence, they (we) can no longer fully digest cooked food.  That's generally why we begin to age more rapidly around 30 or so.  Our lifestyle isn’t getting any worse, but we slow down, gain weight, feel sluggish after meals, take some form of antacid from time to time, feel less energy even though we are exercising more (AND eating all kinds of rich foods and rich food supplements), and exhibit many other symptoms that are so prevalent that we consider them ‘natural’.  But ‘natural’ is a very subjective term; e.g. It is ‘natural’ for you to be in lousy shape if you don’t eat living enzymes, and it is, quite literally, ‘natural’ for you to be in great shape if you do!… So here is the pattern that is occurring :

1)   You eat a food with its nutrients ‘locked up’ in its cellular matrix.  Your pancreas, being overworked from making ‘emergency’; enzymes every day for (how many?) years, has spent it’s potential, and, just like it has been doing ever since, it sends a distress signal to your metabolic system: “Please help me - there is undigested matter heading toward the intestine, and I can’t  make the enzymes to digest it!!   I'm all worn out and have to borrow you (the metabolic system) again!! - Stop making metabolic enzymes for this body’s vitality and start making hydrochloric acid (HCl) and pumping it to the poor stomach !! “

2)   The metabolic system must respond to this emergency (or we would die fairly quickly), so it diverts all its resources to making HCl.

3)   Because it is now otherwise occupied, the metabolic system can no longer make metabolic enzymes (like CREB from above).  Now, metabolic enzymes are different from digestive enzymes: They don’t change food into nutrient - they are painstakingly built from nutrient your body has painstakingly uncovered, released, and made available (digested! …if you didn’t see that coming - check minus).  They’re even larger and more complex molecules than digestive enzymes (often MUCH more complex), so they represent a larger investment (in precious energy) by your body.  Why do we make them?  We literally need them to do everything and anything: they are the complex molecules we use to allow us to see, hear, feel, taste, smell, talk, think, move, laugh, sneeze, recognize our friends, reason, dance, procreate, play the piano, resist disease, etc..  Got it?  OK.  Except as soon as indigestion begins, these precious enzymes can no longer be made.  So instead of making nutrient out of your food, and metabolic enzymes from your nutrient (and facilitating vibrance), the whole life process has come to a silent halt:  You have destroyed your nutrients, created poisons from them AND ceased manufacture of metabolic enzymes for life.  How can you tell when this is happening to you?  You begin to feel lethargic after meals.  Instead of  feeling energetic after you eat, you slow down and have a hard time concentrating, or even staying awake

4)   The HCl turns your tummy very acidic, eventually doing damage to your stomach lining (uric acid not quite as acidic as HCl)

5)   All the food in your tummy turns into poison: Even the good food in there is now crudely and indiscriminately 'chopped up' by the hydrochloric acid (remember the jigsaw puzzle) and made into waste (poison) instead of being digested by enzymes and made into nutrients.  Your body must now remove all this matter, which, of course, saps more of your precious metabolic energy.

6)   You eat some sort of antacid, neutralize the HCl (raise the pH in your tummy) which stops the  dissolution process, sending this partially chopped up poison into your bowels.  Much of it never leaves there (unless you, at some later time in your life, eat the right plant based enzymes on an empty stomach as part of a Somacare – type restoration!)

7)   The antacid and poisons kill off the 'good' (probiotic) bacteria in your lower intestine, rendering it unable to digest food via symbiotic organisms.  The matter now literally rots in your bowels, precipitating all kinds of maladies from flatulence to colon cancer.

It’s time to stop the cycle by supplementing our diets with natural plant based enzyme supplements until we’re back to normal and cleaned out, and then begin supplementing our diet with Super Blue Green Algae.  The results are extra ordinary.  Like trying to build a house, but every tenth nail is missing or a certain type of fastener is always defective:  no matter how good the carpenter is (AKA no matter how healthy the person’s lifestyle is otherwise), then the house will be faulty.  The kicker is that this ‘faultiness’ then often causes maladies which, whatever else they do, interfere (indirectly) in the process of assimilating essential nutrients OR building complex nutrient.  So we have a snowballing effect (recursive loop – the rat bites it’s tail, the strength of disease feeding on it’s own successes), the dis-ease is exacerbated, and the symptoms start to become noticeable.  Now, our bodies are SO complex that this is ALWAYS happening to some degree, and we are CONSTANTLY fighting weaknesses with ‘work-around patches’ and biochemical ‘schemes’.  The overriding conclusion, then, is that the best thing we can do is fight this complex system at it’s source, unlocking the body’s metabolic potential to actually cure a malady by attacking the cause (see me for bibliography of  reports on how protease-family enzymes directly and indirectly kill tumorous cells, viruses, etc.) instead of taking expensive (and often liver-damaging) prescriptions to simply counteract symptoms.  After all, when you want to get rid of an ant colony, you can either try to kill each individual ant, or just kill the queen.  The closer we can get to optimal assimilation of our essential nutrients, the more we are ‘attacking the problem at it’s source’, and the cascading effect mentioned above is ‘nipped off at the bud’ before it gets a chance to snowball.  So instead of patching the roof of the house  where the  boards have cracked and created leaks due to the faulty fasteners, we are replacing the faulty hardware from the foundation up.  Next thing we know, we are feeling TRULY good , experiencing a deep , relaxing current of physical and spiritual energy, which, in turn, causes us to be better able to repair ourselves, and we now have that snowballing effect working FOR us.  After a while, instead of a patched up, shoddy – looking house, we have a house with NO patches AND no leaks because each fastener is doing it’s job – there is no need to augment their function with drugs, cosmetics, fad vitamins, artificial (synthesized – not grown) supplements and other useless expensive crap that the large corporations want you to buy  so their execs can water-ski behind two yachts at once!  All of a sudden you are free from all kinds of financial and physical addictions – you are winning.  Conversely, NOT ingesting living enzymes along with your nutrients is like never changing the oil in your car:  the damage done is silent but real – and one fine day it WILL ruin your car’s engine.

By the way, I should give you an idea of some of the changes you’ll experience and of the costs involved.  To give you a ballpark idea of the direct costs involved, I’m spending about $1.05 per day on SBGA for about 2 grams / day unless I have an athletic or stress event (in which case I’ll take another gram or so), and maybe about half that in enzyme supplements.  After two years, I can honestly say that if the algae and enzymes all the sudden cost ten times what they now cost, I’d still gladly buy them.   Of course, the net cost of supplementing your diet with the enzymes and algae is negative  - you will save literally a hundred times what you spend.  I have not bothered to try to add it up, but the money I’m saving from decreased consumption of junk food is my biggest savings – well over $100 / month.  The SBGA is SO rich in the aminos and complex pure proteins, that your actual craving for and consumption of, say, salty fatty protein sources like Cow and Pig, etc. will decrease by about 10 grams for every gram of algae you eat. AND the best part is, you’ll still enjoy eating a wide variety of protein, you’ll just naturally start to crave quality in every source – for we carnivores, that means goodbye every-other-day- junkfood excursion and hello top quality free range meats.   AND, when you DO ‘slip’ for one reason or another, and eat foods with lots of crap and animal fats in them, you KNOW  you’re protected against the damage they cause because your body’s enzyme set is fortified with the right enzymes!   Enzymes, remember, are like catalysts – they do their job again and again until they become denatured.  So in a healthy body, they are stored in your organs and used when needed, and then return there after they’re done, waiting for the next you’re your body needs to extract nutrient and breakdown (into benign, eliminatable pieces) that particular type of junk food.   I have lowered my cholesterol ( which, by the way is NOT always a good thing, depending on SO many factors – back to ‘Genome’) simply by eating an array of lipases (fat – digesting enzyme) prior to the (now VERY occasional) junk food gorge, and know that the extra enzymes available will not only turn the fat into energy right away (no more sluggish feeling after meals – you can actually stay awake, feel good, and think after a large meal) , but break down the non-nutrients for elimination so that they don’t stay in my body and help cause disease!   I am also spending a lot less on prescriptions, healthcare and skincare products, tobacco,  alcohol, sugar, salts (including complex salts like MSG, which begins to actually taste bad as you begin to actually relish the taste of the FOODS you’re eating INSTEAD of the condiments) , and saving money indirectly as a result of having more energy and vitality (in everything from medical bills to gas from riding the bike places I would not have dreamed of months ago).  But, of course, the financial benefit pales in comparison the  revolution you’ll experience in the quality of life. The REAL cost of getting healthy comes up front, in (1) time (studying so you know what to do and expect and are able to anticipate and not be too startled by the changes your body will go through – think about beginning to crave LIVING protein instead of dead meat… no you’re not gonna eat grubs, but you WILL start to wonder why other folks want to over-cook (and even cook) their protein so damn often) and in (2) personal discipline (making the supplements part of your daily routine, remembering to take them and learning WHEN to take them to get the desired result).

As far as WHICH algae and WHICH enzymes to take, only you can ultimately decide: knowledge is the key.  Knowing the products, AND knowing yourself.  Every individual’s genetic strengths and weaknesses, pancreatic history (of overuse), and overall enzyme potential is different.  In addition to rebuilding your enzymatic function with the right enzymes, optimal health requires that we  feed our bodies with nutrient.  The best way to make sure we do that is to supplement our diet with green ‘superfood’.  Especially if taken before meals, these foods can provide your body with a very complete array of the essential and non-essential nutrients in a whole-food form.  Now, there are many types of green superfoods out there, and they all have something to offer.  After years of steady research, however,  I will only take what is termed SUPER BlueGreen Algae, as opposed to just BlueGreen Algae or other green ‘superfoods’, simply because SBGA is the only algae that is freeze-dried WHEN it is harvested at the mineral rich soils of Klamath Falls, OR area, meaning it is significantly more complete than any chlorella, spirulina, dunaliella, wheatgrass, etc. can be, AND, because it is IMMEDIATELY freeze-dried AT harvest, it is still alive when I eat it (NONE of the enzymes are denatured)  No other BGA can claim that, and no other green superfood can really compete with BGA as far as completeness goes.  Please don’t get me wrong here - chlorella, spirulina, dunaliella, wheatgrass are all wonderful superfoods and very good for you.  They simply, in my opinion, are not as nutritionally complete as blue-green algae).  I can tell you more about SBGA later if you’re interested.

Now, it takes some education to know WHICH enzymes to eat (and HOW to buy them so you don’t get ripped off - I have, through trial and error over the last few years however, identified two companies whose products are both potent and consistent in quality – heads and shoulders above the rest, as far as I can tell, and I have been very happy with the results of both.  Again, contact me  if you’re interested.)  As far as WHICH enzymes to take, first you must decide if you’re taking them for major purification (folks who want to address a specific malady, health condition, allergy, illness, skin problem, or eliminate more than say 12% of their body weight in undigested proteins, fats, and poisons) or just for maintenance (folks who already live without any specific malady), but I’ll hit some highlights here:

Since everyone is different, and it takes a little time and some surveying and testing to determine individual enzymatic deficiencies.  There are , however, several broad classifications of enzyme molecules which can greatly simplify the process of self diagnosis:

The Proteases digest protein, and generally speaking, protease – deficient folks have undigested protein in their bowels.  Protease deficiency is not uncommon for American men.  Often, these folks are muscular as well as heavy, with underarms wider than their hips and small buttocks & thighs, tending to carry their weight above the waist in their torso, which may be large from the sheer volume of undigested matter in the bowels.  Other symptoms are many and include arteriosclerosis, back problems, constipation, high blood pressure and insomnia.  Since these folks cannot digest protein well, their bodies can not extract most of the nutrients (amino acids) from it when they eat it.  Since our bodies crave those nutrients we do not have (already digested) in our blood, the body sends a signal to the brain asking for more amino acids.  But our brain only knows that as a feeling of hunger for…. You guessed it – protein!  So,  as far as their body is concerned, they need more protein!  This is how and why, somewhat ironically, that protease–deficient people crave lots of protein!  Do you see how this vicious cycle is brought about by enzyme deficiency AND causes the symptoms of indigestion?  If so, you are beginning to understand what you need to know to prevent disease.

The Lipases digest fats:  Their job is to take the complex animal and vegetable fats, and extract from them the 5 essential fatty acids listed on the nutrient list.   Only then is the body satiated.  Often these folks have hips wider than underarms, carrying more weight in the lower half of their bodies.  When someone is lipase deficient, they will crave fats because once again,  like protein above, their body doesn’t know it’s had fat until the actual essential fatty acids are unlocked from the complex fats we eat , and end up doing their jobs in the right place.  Other symptoms include aching feet, arthritis, bladder infection, breast lumps / tumors skin and gallbladder problems, gallstones, hay fever and urinary problems.

Amylase Digests carbohydrate and is associate with thyroid function.  Amylase deficient folks, once again, crave the very foods they cannot digest: pastas, cakes, chocolate, coffee, breads, veggies, etc.  They’re prone to allergies, cold hands and feet, depression, fatigue, headaches, hemorrhoids, neck/shoulder aches, skin eruptions, upset stomach / ulcers, etc.  Many people have some degree of amylase deficiency. More as we age.  Saliva tests can reveal the degree of depletion, but it is easy to botch the tests.  See me for more info.

Combination Deficiencies are also not uncommon, and are associated with pituitary function.  These folks often have difficulty developing and maintaining muscle tissue, And can experience aching knees, allergies, diarrhea, constipation, irritable bowel syndrome, frequent colds, and milk intolerance.  A good digestive enzymatic supplement can literally transform their lives overnight.

Though enzyme (deficiency) profiling is beyond the scope here, but I HAVE found several very effective ways to uncover and distinguish between the different enzyme deficiencies and have used them with success.  Though many practitioners like to sample  one’s saliva ($$), it is rarely necessary: Usually no fluid sample analysis is required in order to correctly determine the type of enzyme deficiency an individual has and develop an effective enzyme supplementation strategy.  I have a short questionnaire which  works great and can save many hours (and dollars).  I must help you interpret the questionnaire.  So please, if you take it, send it back to me BEFORE you spend any money on supplements, and we’ll go over it and get you started in the right direction.

SUMMARY OF SENTINEL REPORT ON ALGAE AND ENZYMES

1)                 Everything that you eat becomes either an asset (nutrient) or a liability (poison).

2)                 Any food which is not properly digested becomes a poison your body must eliminate.

2)   A food's ‘natural enzyme set’ is required to digest that food properly

3)   Unless a food is alive when you eat it, it will not have its complete natural enzyme set.

4)   Unless you have supplemented with the correct enzymes, when you eat a food without it’s natural enzyme set (which is ANY food besides organic raw whole foods), your body goes into ‘emergency mode’, and has to work very hard to make the enzymes that were supposed to be IN the food.

5)   This process is supposed to be for emergencies only , and when it is activated daily instead of , say, biannually) , it leads to sickness and early death by a host of diseases.  We know this because the organ which has evolved to make these (absent in cooked or processed foods) enzymes gets overworked and stops functioning in young adults, slowly manifesting itself as the symptoms we’ve come to associate with ‘middle age’, up to and including cancer.  We call this organ the pancreas, and it is a fact that over 50% of all men in  the US have some degree of pancreatic cancer when they die.  Another organ that is adversely affected by eating non-raw foods is the colon, and colon cancer kills more non-smoking men than ANY OTHER TYPE.  It is believed that over 80% of men in this country suffer from some degree of colon and/or pancreatic cancer by the time they die, and the actual number may well be more like 90%)

6)   Eating enzymatic supplements reverses the process with amazing results. But the supplement needs two things: POTENCY(enough enzymes per dosage, and they are NOT denatured when you eat them) and COMPOSITION (the right enzymes).

7)   Following up with a diet rich in fresh foods, including ~ 2 grams per day of Super Blue Green Algae dramatically increases vitality and has caused remission. (Do NOT buy just any blue green algae (BGA)– only one company (so far) is growing and immediately freeze-drying their BGA ON-SITE – Hence the ‘Super’ in SBGA.

8)     The sooner you started, the better (and longer) you live and the more dramatic the results to your life (especially in the long run).

9)      The best way to start is to fill out the Enzyme Deficiency Questionnaire attached to this email and send it back to me.  Together we can then tailor the type and dosage of plant-based enzymes and Super BlueGreen Algae to your specific needs.
