The end of a long day.

Nick beside him, an unceasing flow of words that wash over and around, not really there, just carrying him in the current.

Home at last. Tired, I’m so tired. Too many things done, too many small mishaps and irritations, not a truly bad day, but not a good one either.

Nick keeps up his stream of chatter, knows it isn’t heard. Knows he has to just because…

Home.

Tired, he’s so tired, too tired even to care for his own horse. Nick takes the reins and hangs behind.

Home.

He heads to the house. Hat and gun on the table.

A bath would be nice.

One glance and Jarrod disappears in the study.

Home.

Tired, almost too tired to climb the steps. Jarrod follows him up and watches him stumble down the hall.

Home. God I ache, wanna sleep for a week, but first…

He opens the door and Jarrod has been there, the bath is running and a scotch sits on the sink.

Home, it’s good to be home.
