Midway C.L.A.Y. is the youth group from Midway Church. C.L.A.Y. is open to any young person (13&up) who is looking for a place of acceptance, fun, and fellowship.     For the past four years Jim & Deb Slaughter (Youth Leaders) have willing opened up their home and their hearts to C.L.A.Y. and to each and every young person who has ever visited.  The youth meet every Tuesday night, 7:00 p.m. @ Jim & Deb's house in Coeburn, VA.
I have known Jim & Deb since they started this ministry back in 2001. Since then they have become very close friends of mine and I don't know where I would be without them.  This past summer we decided to give a name to our group other than 'Midway Youth'.  After finding the passage in Isaiah (64:8) that tells us we are the works of our Father's hand we knew we wanted that as our verse.  So we decided to call ourselves Midway C.L.A.Y. which means Change Lives Around You, which is what we want to do.  We want to be more than just a group of kids that get together in a Christian atmosphere and have fun.  We wanted to do more than go to concerts and go to church.  We want to make a difference in our community.  This led us to create the A.C.T.S. board.  In short the A.C.T.S. board is our way of finding those in our community that need help (lawns mowed, furniture moved, house-hold repairs, clean up trash, etc.) and letting others know of the things that some of our youth are particularly good at helping with (computer problems, painting, baby sitting, etc.).  When Jesus came to the world he helped those in need, we are simply following his example.
Chaning Lives
Around You
Yet, O LORD, you are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand.
