YOU CAN ALWAYS SEE HER SMILE

She could light up a room with her sparkling eyes
Her smile used to dazzle all who walked by
But one day she woke up from a beautiful dream
Passed a mirror and wanted to scream

The reflection she saw that was waiting to greet her
Stared back so sadly with an unblinking eye
One side of her face had collapsed and lay frozen
The other side started to cry

But she still loves a sunset
The smell of a rose
Chocolates, and walking for miles
And at night when she's holding her baby
You can always see her smile

She put on dark glasses and hid from the world
She felt like a part of her spirit had died
For a while there was no one who could console her
For a while she did nothing but cry

How could she kiss her sweet baby, she wondered
And how could she give him her cute impish grin?
Her face was a tomb that betrayed true emotion
Her feelings were buried within

But she still loves a sunset
The smell of a rose
Chocolates, and walking for miles
And at night when she's holding her baby
You can always see her smile

She prayed for some answers, she wouldn't give up
She made sure she left no stone unturned
Then like a Phoenix she rose from the ashes
A new fire within her now burnedburned

Now she has new friends who don't see her face
She shares pain and laughter, that's what they embrace
And she knows what they are feeling, there's no more denial
And they can always see her smile

And she still loves a sunset
The smell of a rose
Chocolates, and walking for miles
And at night when she's holding her baby
You can always see her smile

Yes, she still loves a sunset
The smell of a rose
Chocolates, and dancing in aisles
And at night when she's holding her baby
You can always see her smile

A WOMAN

Once there was a woman
who had Bells Palsy.
She used to be a man magnet
but she isn't any more.

She did have a great smile,
but then it disappeared
into a smile that was weird.

She does have children
and a wonderful man
who will love her no matter what she looks like now.

So she doesn't feel down
when she hits the town,
for her family love her
as she is NOW!
