| A REAL SMILE
Some think that a smile comes from the lips An even row of teeth But smiles are so much more than this Not from the surface, but from beneath. A smile is a twinkle in the eyes Positive attitude showing you care Your true smile comes from deep inside The love you gladly share. You'll know you have this genuine smile When strangers and those you know.... Even an innocent baby Will reflect your inner glow. When we are with others Interacting for awhile We know that they can see our grin They react to us with a smile We who have lost our outward smile And thought our world would end Have gained the very special chance Of meeting our strength from within A smile is not our lips, our teeth, Our completely symmetrical face A smile is our whole being A reflection of God's grace Lois |
| THE FACE OF A STRANGER
I studied the face of a stranger today.... there was no expression, just a silent sadness as our eyes met. I didn't wish to stare, and yet couldn't turn away.... I gently traced each curve of the stranger's face with a sigh of sad regret. Who was this silent stranger.... so motionless, and somehow so familiar, whose searching eyes I can not seem to forget. What's wrong poor stranger.... won't you smile for me? Won't you please try? What's wrong with you? And why? I studied the face of a stranger today.... again, just like yesterday, the day before, and the many days before that. Ron |
