| According to Grover Cleveland Holland, Cincinnatus' grandson, Cincinnatus Berry Crook had something to do with brining in criminals (possibly a bounty hunter). He was always afraid someone was going to kill him. Whenever a visitor would come to the house, he would run outside behind a big tree and make the visitor identify themself before he would let them into the house. Submitted by Linda Hall |

| According to Katherine Mae Holland, Susan Rebecca ("Becky") Crook's granddaughter, Becky did indeed try to whiten her face. Katherine remembers watching Susan put whitening on her face to make it look lighter in color. She was always secretive about her racial background. Katherine remembers a conversation between her parents (Becky's son & daughter-in-law) regarding the Indian heritage. Family history says that Becky's mother was Choctaw.
