WILL YOU

Will you, won't you
Can you, can't you

Too new to say
Too old to play

Can you, could you
Should you?  DAMN you.

I told you, "no," but then I did
I seem to do whatever you bid
You swept me off me feet
and made my fantasy complete

Who knew, did you?
Ya, man, me too.

We were brought together by pain
will we end the same, no gain?
Have I met my bitter end
or have I met a life-long friend?

Too new, hope you
will always tell me truth

You give me so much trust & space
and in return I dream of your face
Often in my thoughts, always on my mind
We talk for hours, sublime time

Will you, won't you
fade away
Are you, aren't you
too good to stay

WILL YOU

Inspiration
When a friendship is "too new," many questions come to mind, such as "will you" always be my friend. The lines, "who knew, did you / ya man, me too" means that a seedling of the friendship was already there before the friendship actually bloomed, and both sides could foresee it.

The line "too old to play" refers to being too mature to play mindgames in friendship, and this sentiment is echoed with a call for honesty in the lines, "hope you / will always tell me truth."
