WANDERINGS

Took a step,
Turned around,
Doubled back,
New path was found

Fork in the road!
No map in sight.
Should I stop and sit?
Turn left? Turn right?

A pack of wolves!
Teeth flashed at my heels!
I lept into the stream
and fled to the hills

New places, new faces
Bright little town.
Wandered through the village
and staked my own patch of ground.

Family sent word,
"Why must you roam?
Come back to our safe arms,
come back to your home."

But I could not go back,
and did not want to stay.
Yet something held me here
day after day

The lost soul inside
no longer weeps.
The traveling gypsy inside
now peacefully sleeps.
A perilous journey,
yes, that is true
but the wanderings ceased
when the steps led to you.

WANDERINGS

Inspiration
Instead of wondering where we are going in life, we can look back at the steps we took that brought us to where we are today.
