WOMAN’S VIRTUE

Sabbath day had arrived
and there was a lady fair
She stood before her fiance
and drew in a lung of air,

“Dear,” said she, “this will not do.
Your ring you must take
I’ve thought it over again and again,
and I fear it a mistake.”

He stomped his feet and was in shock,
“But it’s been five whole years!
I’ve patiently awaited this joyous day!”
he screeched, almost in tears.

She raised her haughty head high in the air
“I’ll tell you this, time after time!
A lady’s a lady and everyone knows
She’s entitled to change her mind!”

“Alright,” said he, “have it your way.
I must be going immediately.
For a wedding I planned, and I will have,
I’ll marry your sister Laurie!”

“How could you? You low, wretched thing!”
she screamed, and then, quietly, calmly,
“What I mean, Darling Sweetness, is,
hand me my veil, please.”

The man grew quite puzzled…
for now he had to decide
should he marry her or her?
Who should be his bride?

He finally forgave her and she explained,
“I’ll tell you this, time after time!
A woman’s a woman and everyone knows,
SHE’S ENTITLED TO CHANGE HER MIND!”
