BRIEF ENCOUNTER

When I wake up to the sun
It just makes me smile
The simple truths in life
are what make it all worthwhile

And when I look at you
the beams shine from your eyes
Sleeping next you
I can’t wait for the sun to rise

Don’t know your mum
Never met your dad
What we give to the world
will return and make us glad

And when I think of you
Gazing at bright blue skies,
watching the night set in
I can’t wait for the sun to rise

Only held your hand
for a brief moment in time
I still can recall your face
Do you remember mine?

If we really knew each other
We might be telling lies
But if the truth be known
We both can’t wait for the sun to rise

BRIEF ENCOUNTER

Inspiration
Sometimes knowing someone briefly is enough.  I wrote this after having one date with a very nice man from London.  He flew home after our date and did call me, but I quickly realized that one date was fun and was fine with me.  Relationships can get stale, and this is explained in the lines, "If we really knew each other / We might be telling lies."
