AN OCEAN AWAY
I gaze at you,
but you are not there.
You look back at me,
but it is only a blank stare.
I keep telling myself
you’re only an ocean away,
an ocean made of tears
that keeps you astray,
I can’t stand the pain,
it goes on night and day
I wish I could stop loving you,
but I can’t walk away.
I’ll love you always,
even when forever ends.
You are the fire in my heart,
You are my very best friend.
My love flows to you
night and day
So please love me back
or just walk away.

Inspiration
The timeless idea behind this poem is love that is not returned. Feeling
the separation, the writer expresses the distance as an ocean. The ocean
of separation is sad, and is made of tears. The writer wants the love
to be returned or for the person to walk away from their life.
