Pozega, City of
Since its first recorded mention, dating from 11 January 1227,
Pozega played an important role in Medieval Slavonia. On 1
September 1765, Empress Maria Theresa promulgated a Bull,
granting Pozega the status of a free, royal city. Pozega has a
population of 28000, including its administrative area, which
comprises some 30 villages and hamlets covering an area of
about 146 km2.
